really liked it
it's definitely interesting, if a little out-dated. i don't necessarily want to compare tragedies, but "nothing to envy: ordinary lives in north korea" gives a much more in-depth look at the country's entire regime over the past 60 years (as well as living in and escaping it) so i'd probably recommend that one over this one if for some reason you could only read one. ...more

this wasn't as exciting (for lack of a better word) as i thought it'd be. but it is a very straightforward and informative account of midwifery and colonial medicine from the point of view of a woman working during the time. it's a great (if a little long) learning opportunity for anyone interested in those topics. ...more
