it was amazing
I listened to "War" as a book on CD. I came to it with low expectations for some reason - I can't really say why - but partway through I realized that it was an extraordinary work of journalism. It offers deep insight into the war in Afghanistan and into war in general. Definitely worth reading, and if you like the audio book format, it's definitely worth a listen. The audio book is read by the author, Sebastian Junger.

Highly readable, often harrowing - Hampton Sides drew on previous books about the battle and archival research to create the framework for this book, and fleshed it out with his own original research and interviews with survivors he interviewed throughout the United States and in Asia.
