Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann
Angela’s first review of the year
liked it
Although I appreciated the amount of research that went into this account of the little-known reign of terror against the Osage Indian tribe in the 1920s, I found the book to be dry and plodding. There were a lot of names and characters to remember and I was bored at times. Angela’s last review of the year
really liked it
A touching and engaging tale about a boy born with a rare congenital abnormality. Despite being ridiculed and bullied throughout his boyhood, Sam Hell grows up into a wonderful man thanks to his parents and two good friends. Unfortunately, the book becomes overly sentimental and sappy to the point of manipulative toward the end, and especially heavy handed with religion. Almost 4 stars.
