I bought this to read before watching the Tom Cruise movie that was made from it. In the end I read about half of it last year and then set it down. I ended up watching the movie and then re-starting the book, which I've now read.

It's a quick read and pacy. It's not overly sophisticated but it has a consistent tone that fits its subject matter. I won't bore you with the differences between the movie and the book except to say if you've experience

Interesting book. I started reading it and soon took a dislike to it. But it was a quick read and I was soon far enough into it to feel like I might as well finish it. Once I committed to it it did get a bit better.

So. I think it's well written but probably not for me. I think the thing it's attempting to do - to evoke the feeling of what it's like to suffer an mental illness, was probably more successful than not, just not as satisfying to me p
