An avid booklover and ardent traveler, Adele Fasick has roamed the world through books and in person. Her love of books and of history led her to become a librarian and a writer. One of her favorite figures in American history is Margaret Fuller, the early feminist who led many women to reach for more meaningful lives. Margaret was an inspiration to many including Charlotte Edgerton, the heroine of the Charlotte Edgerton mystery series. As Charlotte moves from Boston to New York, London, and Italy during the 1840s, her life follows the trail that Margaret Fuller had set. It was a time when revolutions were brewing, and the world was changing faster than ever before. Charlotte experiences much of the excitement and mystery that pervaded thos ...more

It's because years ago when I studied American literature, I became interested in Margaret Fuller and began reading more about her and her friends in New England. My first mystery story, "A Death in Utopia", is set in Massachusetts and Margaret Fuller appears in the story. I followed Margaret's career as she moved to New York City to be a journalist and that is what gave me the idea to write about New York in the 1840s. The book I am working on now is set in London, which is also a city that Margaret Fuller visited. The 1840s was a very exciting period--very much like the 1960s in America. That's why I find it a fascinating time to write about.(less)

Showing Us How to Experience Museums—Isabella Stewart Gardner

This summer has been a worrisome one for many people. The major events of the world have caused pain and worry to those of us who were paying attention to the news. Attacks and wars in Ukraine and Gaza continue despite the efforts of many world leaders to find peace.

This blog has always looked back at events in the past rather than what is going on day-by-day. Things may seem to change, but think
