Elijah Fry Elijah Fry said: " Best book I’ve read. Society needs to hear this. There is a such a thing as dying wise and dying well and we aren’t doing it. It’s a toxic thing in our culture, not knowing how to die well, not knowing what grief is. Please read this book "

"I knew there were things I did agree with in this book but I forgot what those were. So far, the big one is a misunderstanding and mischaracterization of humans role in the world. He says we are only a small and dependent part and the world doesn’t need us but really we actually are important, cynicism aside." Oct 09, 2019 07:09PM

2) identify with it. tell friends about it.
3) buy book about it.
4) begin reading book.
5) realise there are suddenly *a lot* of books on this topic.

FINALLY finished. Only took me a year...
Not a super interesting book, most of it is just articles published in a newspaper, so yeah. Somewhat informative but could have been way shorter in a better format.

“You can love someone and still choose to say goodbye to them,” she says now. “You can miss a person every day, and still be glad that they are no longer in your life.”

“The thing about having a mental breakdown is that no matter how obvious it is that you're having one, it is somehow not obvious to you. I'm fine, you think. So what if I watched TV for twenty-four straight hours yesterday. I'm not falling apart. I'm just lazy. Why it's better to think yourself lazy than think yourself in distress, I'm not sure. But it was better. More than better: it was vital.”

“My life was narrated for me by others. Their voices were forceful, emphatic, absolute. It had never occurred to me that my voice might be as strong as theirs.”
