I love to read and write and I am lucky enough to make a living teaching both. I also write, record, and perform music in a few different projects over the years. Can't do audiobooks. Enjoy a good paperback/hardcover.

I do not participate in any other forms of social media. Goodreads is good enough for me.

I also buy and sell classic soul, funk, and early rock 'n' roll vinyl 45s on Discogs (if you're into that sort of thing):

Much love from Iowa to my Goodreads reading family!

Adam and 3 other people liked Gopal Rao's review of Norwood:
Norwood by Charles Portis
"Norwood is a compact, economically written road novel that traces a journey through small town America. It’s about the oddball people the protagonist meets on his way to the big city.

On the surface, many events seem mundane — a man looking for work, " Read more of this review »

Iceland Fisherman by Pierre Loti
"This is a beautiful, though occasionally sad, novel written in 1886 depicting the lives of Breton fishermen and their families. It’s available in the public domain for free through Project Gutenberg. I read it while on that bit of coastline, and it d" Read more of this review »

A few years back I played guitar on Ben Driscoll's album, "Unseen Danger." I went for a "Twin Peaks" vibe and I think it worked. Anyway, there was a song that didn't resolve at the end; I believe it hung on a seventh and slowly faded out. It drove th ...more
