“There are books of which the backs and covers are by far the best parts.”
Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist

Stephen King
“I recognize terror as the finest emotion and so I will try to terrorize the reader. But if I find that I cannot terrify, I will try to horrify, and if I find that I cannot horrify, I'll go for the gross-out. I'm not proud. ”

“Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around.”

Stephen King
“There are books full of great writing that don't have very good stories. Read sometimes for the story... don't be like the book-snobs who won't do that. Read sometimes for the words--the language. Don't be like the play-it-safers who won't do that. But when you find a book that has both a good story and good words, treasure that book.”

Tien Hi Julianne,

Hope you're well... I happened to see your name on a book I was looking at and I thought, oh, wow, I haven't seen you in ages!

Come & visit us @ Pick-a-Shelf :)

Cheers,
K

Melissa I figured out why I felt like you were never updating on here . . . you've been updating in the 100+ book challenge group, which I no longer belong to, since I never read anywhere near 100 books! lol

Melissa It was really weird, looking at your profile and seeing Sykesville as your hometown! lol

Tien Hi Julianne
Thanks for the add! :)
Is that your baby on the photo? how many kids have you got?

Julianne So, here's my new goal (some of this I've shared with Melissa, other parts are brand-spanking new!). Every month, my goal is to read:

One classic novel
One non-fiction (from my to-reads)
One fiction

Any extra time can be free choice. Ideally, "free choice" would actually be a book club read (Next Best or the Idiots Ultimate reading list).

I hope to keep tabs here on how I'm doing. So far, I've got one fiction down, and one more almost finished (the audiobook will be done by Wed). I think I'm lining up 2 non-fiction next. I need to go steal some classics from Dad.
