This was very good.

As a perpetual worrier but do-it-anyway-even-if-you-poop-your-pants-er, I related to Jan. Her writing is also well done, I found myself wanting to continue reading and wanted her desperately to have a good ending.

I just wish the

Beautiful writing, but just missed the mark somewhere for me in there. A complex story with complex characters and the intricacies of motherhood and fertility. It was a satisfying read, but the last third of the book left for a little more to be desi ...more

Ah, another lighthearted read in the books, and about books as that!

As someone who has nonsense-y anxiety with acute panic attacks sprinkled throughout my life, this book made me feel SEEN. There was a passage about getting anxiety about getting anx

Brené Brown
“How can we expect people to put value on our work when we don't value ourselves enough to set and hold uncomfortable boundaries?”
Brené Brown, Rising Strong

Hanya Yanagihara
“You won’t understand what I mean now, but someday you will: the only trick of friendship, I think, is to find people who are better than you are—not smarter, not cooler, but kinder, and more generous, and more forgiving—and then to appreciate them for what they can teach you, and to try to listen to them when they tell you something about yourself, no matter how bad—or good—it might be, and to trust them, which is the hardest thing of all. But the best, as well.”
Hanya Yanagihara, A Little Life

Anne Lamott
“Your problem is how you are going to spend this one and precious life you have been issued. Whether you're going to spend it trying to look good and creating the illusion that you have power over circumstances, or whether you are going to taste it, enjoy it and find out the truth about who you are.”
Anne Lamott

Cheryl Strayed
“You will learn a lot about yourself if you stretch in the direction of goodness, of bigness, of kindness, of forgiveness, of emotional bravery. Be a warrior for love.”
Cheryl Strayed, Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar

Michael A. Singer
“If you want to be happy, you have to let go of the part of you that wants to create melodrama. This is the part that thinks there’s a reason not to be happy. You have to transcend the personal, and as you do, you will naturally awaken to the higher aspects of your being. In the end, enjoying life’s experiences is the only rational thing to do. You’re sitting on a planet spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Go ahead, take a look at reality. You’re floating in empty space in a universe that goes on forever. If you have to be here, at least be happy and enjoy the experience. You’re going to die anyway. Things are going to happen anyway. Why shouldn’t you be happy? You gain nothing by being bothered by life’s events. It doesn’t change the world; you just suffer. There’s always going to be something that can bother you, if you let it.”
Michael A. Singer, The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself
