There's all kinds of depths to Philly. She's bargained to banker, Luke in payment of a debt. He marries her to have a housekeeper. Their relationship gives plenty of giggles. I listened to it on Audible and enjoyed the performance.

My son-in-law has been talking about Jim Butcher's Dresden Files for years, and I finally listened. I loved this book! It was just plain fun. I guess you would call this an urban fantasy since it involves magic and is set in modern days. Harry ...more

Christine Feehan
“His entire body shuddered with pleasure. He caught her hips in his hands, surged forward to to bury himself deep inside of her. A safe haven. His world was changed forever. He no longer walked the earth utterly alone. He would never be alone again. Antonietta changed his world. Brought him light in his unrelenting darkness.”
Christine Feehan, Dark Symphony

Ben Okri
“That's the way it is. If you believe in something your very belief renders you unqualified to do it. Your earnestness will come across. Your passion will show. Your enthusiasm will make everyone nervous. And your naivety will irritate. Which means that you will become suspect. Which means you will be prone to disillusionment. Which means that you will not be able to sustain your belief in the face of all the piranha fish which nibble away at your idea and your faith, 'till only the skeleton of your dream is left. Which means that you have to become a fanatic, a fool, a joke, an embarrassment. The world - which is to say the powers that be - would listen to your ardent ideas with a stiff smile on its face, then put up impossible obstacles, watch you finally give up your cherished idea, having mangled it beyond recognition, and after you slope away in profound discouragement it will take up your idea, dust it down, give it a new spin, and hand it over to someone who doesn't believe in it at all.”
Ben Okri

“It seemed to him that the people that weren't on the spot 'thought' they knew better than the people who were.”
Christopher G. Nuttall, Cursed Command

“One of the older masters was talking about how life and people really operate in patterns and how some of the problems we face are a result of intersecting patterns -- old patterns of doing things that clash with new patterns created by the way things change”
LE Modesitt Jr Imager's Challenge

Mary Balogh
“Life is made up of opposing pairs -- life and death, love and hatred, happiness and misery, light and darkness, and on and on into infinity. Finding balance and contentment is like trying to walk a tightrope between all those opposites without falling off on one side or the other and believing that life must be all light or all darkness, when neither one is truth in itself. Imogene”
Mary Balogh
