"I've tried reading this before, but put it down because I couldn't concentrate or focus on its poetic words.

Now I'm trying again. And I really hope I can find the proper headspace this time."

Machines Like Me by Ian McEwan

I love McEwan's mind. I love the way he thinks. The way he portrays and paints the shadows living in the human mind. Obsession, guilt, betrayal, doubt and raw jealousy almost become tangible things in his hands.

Therefore, this book is at its

This is a gripping tale of the witch hunt, taking place in England during the 1600's. Of unfair trials, suspicions and accusations rooted in fear of the unknown, revenge and oppression; and most horrifyingly of all, it is based on the very real story ...more

A Pocketful of Crows by Joanne M. Harris

I adore Harris' writing. She has a certain way of crafting stories and creating images that almost feel mythic. Otherworldly. And always so poetic.

A Pocketful of Crows is a beautiful retelling of the Child Ballads, and while I'm not too familiar with

I didn't think it was possible but I loved this even more than The Gracekeepers.

Written in alluring and lush prose, this story drips nostalgia, melancholia and darkness. It's a fusion of myths, fairy tales and brutal reality told in poetic prose.

Magic and history mixes in this wonderful tale of the Romanov family and their downfall.

Absolutely enchanting and yet only a fraction as gripping as the real tale. This is one of those odd cases where reality is much more impressing than fiction.

John Green
“You're both the fire and the water that extinguishes it. You're the narrator, the protagonist, and the sidekick. You're the storyteller and the story told. You are somebody's something, but you are also your you.”
John Green, Turtles All the Way Down

Lang Leav
“A book travels for days, for years, sometimes for centuries to meet you at an exact point in time.”
Lang Leav, The Universe of Us

Leigh Bardugo
“Maybe there were people who lived those lives. Maybe this girl was one of them. But what about the rest of us? What about the nobodies and the nothings, the invisible girls? We learn to hold our heads as if we wear crowns. We learn to wring magic from the ordinary. That was how you survived when you weren’t chosen, when there was no royal blood in your veins. When the world owed you nothing, you demanded something of it anyway.”
Leigh Bardugo, Crooked Kingdom

John Green
“You remember your first love because they show you, prove to you, that you can love and be loved, that nothing in this world is deserved except for love, that love is both how you become a person and why.”
John Green, Turtles All the Way Down

Lang Leav
“I suppose it's only human nature to add and substract from our memories; to recall them the way we feel they should be remembered. After all, our lives are a living work of art - shouldn't we be allowed to shape it in any way we choose?”
Lang Leav, The Universe of Us
