Henrik Ibsen said he wasn't a feminist - but I can't help but read this book as a gender study on society. Wonderfully written - a quick read (it took me a couple hours) but I have read it over and over, each time finding something new.

It was the best of times... it was the worst of times. This book, set in the French Rev, is a terrific challenge - and a worthwhile read. The ending has brought some of my students to tears.
