There is a lot to love about this historical f/f novella: childhood best friends trope, lady pining for cousin's widow, chemistry, beetles... Fabulous read.

Talia Hibbert
“It was less homelessness, more an abundance of other people’s homes. Long rides on the night bus to places we had no business being, and then another long ride back, just so no-one could report a woman sleeping with her kids on a park bench.”
Talia Hibbert, Merry Inkmas

Alyssa Cole
“Out of all the train cars in all the world you had to walk into mine.” Likotsi switched up which ankle was resting on which knee, the action forcing Fab to take a step back, then tilted her chin toward the doors separating the cars. “You’re only supposed to use those in case of emergency.” “I’d say that seeing you a few feet away counts as an emergency.”
Alyssa Cole, Once Ghosted, Twice Shy

Tamara Mataya
“You’re not supposed to want to date her. You’re supposed to be seducing her.”
Tamara Mataya, Begging For Mercy

Alyssa Cole
“Maybe we can order the Domino’s three for $9.99,” he suggested. “That’s easy.” “I’ll order pizza,” she said. “Real pizza.”
Alyssa Cole, Can't Escape Love

Holley Trent
“Why won’t you touch me?” “You haven’t given me permission to. I’m not going to take anything I haven’t been offered.” In fact, that was the entire basis of Lanie’s post-Army career—the opposite of taking. Her job was putting things back where they were supposed to be by returning artifacts to their rightful places. She gave things back to the people they belonged to. Diana didn’t belong to Lanie anymore, and Lanie didn’t belong to her. That was what Lanie was trying to change, but Diana hadn’t yet agreed to take back possession of what she owned.”
Holley Trent, The Coyote's Comfort: A Masters of Maria Novella
