Betty’s Recent Updates

Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud by Anne Helen Petersen
"My favorite thing about this book is the title. I read this for Book Riot's online book club. I enjoyed the collection in general. Naturally I liked the essays about celebs I am already fond of (Serena Williams, Jennifer Weiner, Hillary Clinton) m..." Read more of this review »
An Approach to the Book of Abraham by Hugh Nibley
"I found this book to be highly insightful. Reading this book w/o a testimony of the Book of Mormon might be doing things in the wrong order. Reading it after gaining a testimony made his insights all that much more interesting."
Scarlett Epstein Hates It Here by Anna Breslaw
"I'm still trying to decide if I actually liked this book. I liked things about it, but not everything. And for a book about a very smart, clever, and funny girl who is an excellent writer - the book isn't smart, clever, funny, or well written enou..." Read more of this review »

I chose not to finish this book. Just bad timing. Another time I might finish it, but right now I just don't want to read any more of the gruesome details of the horrors of WW2.

I would give it 3 and 1/2 stars, but can't quite get to four. This book shares some great principles and sound advice, and, I can appreciate her Asian aesthetic, but, as a westerner, it was often hard to swallow.

Not just another WW11 story! - The vibrant characters created by Kristen Hannah had me hooked from the first page. Historical fiction at its best!
