"11/09/19 - Turville - it was really difficult to park for this walk. Turville is tiny and there seemed to be a lot of walkers about. However, the parking is free. This is a short walk but is uphill in places. I fell over into stinging nettles on this walk so didn't enjoy it as much as the others but it is worth doing." Sep 15, 2019 11:39PM

"10/09/19 - Hambledon - there wasn't much parking on the suggested street for this walk so we parked a street away but it was free parking. A nice long walk. A few fields of cows to go through. There was one tiny section (a few feet) that was entirely covered in stinging nettles so we had to wade through them and got quite badly stung. We had lunch at the Bat and Bull and it was very nice with lovely views." Sep 15, 2019 11:37PM

This is a nice little book of Haikus that can be read in about 5 minutes.

A Haiku can be a beautiful little poem and there are some little gems in this book.

"Not a massive fan of poetry but really enjoyed this book of Haiku!

I especially loved the one about the cat.

As shown in the picture with my own black bundle of fur.

"Well...even though I'd never read this, I thought I knew the story of Frankenstein. I feel like I've been lied to by the media all these years. I thought that Frankenstein was a mad scientist who lived in a castle. A man who loved his monster and..." Read more of this review »

This is not the first time I have read Frankensteina and although I don't mind the book, I am always glad it is short.

It is has a clever narrative structure as we get a story within a story, within another story.

Frankenstein is mega selfish and cre

“You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry,
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true,
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
These cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Margaret Atwood
“I would like to believe this is a story I'm telling. I need to believe it. I must believe it. Those who can believe that such stories are only stories have a better chance.
If it's a story I'm telling, then I have control over the ending. Then there will be an ending, to the story, and real life will come after it. I can pick up where I left off.
It isn't a story I'm telling.
It's also a story I'm telling, in my head, as I go along.
Tell, rather than write, because I have nothing to write with and writing is in any case forbidden. But if it's a story, even in my head, I must be telling it to someone. You don't tell a story only to yourself. There's always someone else.
Even when there is no one.”
Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale
