Finding it a bit difficult to give it 3 stars but will go ahead and do so due to the writing style. It worked well and ready smoothly. I struggle though because I disliked almost all (if not all) of the characters. There was very little redeeming qua ...more

I enjoyed this book specifically for its perspective into the Hungarian Jewish experience. It was very interesting to get a glimpse into the Jewish experience from the perspective of a country that did cooperate with Hitler and was geographically loc ...more

It took me a little while to feel connected to the characters, but the second half of the book completely engaged me. There was a particular paragraph in the book that touched me to my core regarding a shift in one of the female heroines. Really well ...more

I didn't like the main character of this book. I didn't like any of the characters in this book nor did I like the setting. It wasn't a bad book but not good either. But worse, PREDICTABLE - not surprised at the end.

Good - I enjoyed the character development although I did feel the female characters were somewhat stereotypes. Narrative moved easily and was engaging.

So good. Read it in about 4 days. Dark storyline not for the weak of heart. Can't wait to buy the next one in the series.

Although great storyline - couldn't give it a 5 star though because of the quality of writing - not bad but not top rate.
