The community-based reading campaign aims to get as many people as possible in a given area - including lapsed and/or reluctant readers - reading and talking about the same book at the same time. Over the next three months the AWF is inviting the entire Roaring Fork Valley to join in reading and celebrating To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of 30 books selected by the NEA for The Big Read.
This fall, the AWF, in partnership with Pitkin County Library, will collaborate with scores of Roaring Fork Valley nonprofits, businesses, book groups, educators, and individuals to host a month-long series of bilingual events and activities based on the themes found in Lee's award-winning and classic 1960 novel. Events will include author presentations, film screenings, book discussions, theatrical presentations, children's story hours, and more.
We hope that readers from the Roaring Fork Valley will join in an on-line discussion of "To Kill a Mockingbird".
