This was recommended to me by my dentist, and I'll definitely be taking his recommendations again! A really interesting look at a distant future where artificial intelligence has taken over, but in a benevolent way, basically ensuring that every one ...more

It took a few chapters of this book to really get into it, but once I did, I really enjoyed it! I thought the ending was perfect, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series! I love Irene, Kai, and Vale!

Pretty compelling story, with plenty of cliffhangers. I thought Michael's character was a bit perfect at times, but the second half of the book changed that opinion.

Good storyline, and interesting characters. I didn't enjoy this as much as Six of Crows (which I'm still raving about) but it is an earlier novel, so I'm definitely going to keep reading this series! I'm very excited about the tv series!

I've read a couple of these books but I enjoyed the format of the radio play edition. Definitely a few lol moments, and I am seriously in love with Bertie!

Although I haven't read this before, I had seen the movie, so I kind of remembered some of the details. I think I enjoyed this more than the movie. I really like that the characters grow over the books, and I'm looking forward to reading the next in ...more

Amanda Palmer
“There’s no “correct path” to becoming a real artist. You might think you’ll gain legitimacy by going to art school, getting published, getting signed to a record label. But it’s all bullshit, and it’s all in your head. You’re an artist when you say you are. And you’re a good artist when you make somebody else experience or feel something deep or unexpected.”
Amanda Palmer, The Art of Asking; or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help

Louisa Hall
“Our faces turned upwards, together we scanned the heavens, finding them stacked with tiers of bright stars.

Remarked to Whittier: It almost seems that each star is a hole, through which we might vanish into other dark heavens.

Whittier remained silent. Whole night seemed to wait for his response, and while I also waited, was taken with a sudden suspicion that our blue sky, that seems so solid during the day, might be in fact riddled with piercings, and rendered therefore exceeding fragile. As if the great dome above us might be nothing more than a swathe of soft linen, billowing up with the wind.”
Louisa Hall, Speak

Ann Brashares
“Maybe happiness didn't have to be about the big, sweeping circumstances, about having everything in your life in place. Maybe it was about stringing together a bunch of small pleasures. Wearing slippers and watching the Miss Universe contest. Eating a brownie with vanilla ice cream. Getting to level seven in Dragon Master and knowing there were twenty more levels to go.

Maybe happiness was just a matter of the little upticks- the traffic signal that said "Walk" the second you go there- and downticks- the itch tag at the back of your collar- that happened to every person in the course of the day. Maybe everybody had the same allotted measure of happiness within each day.

maybe it didn't matter if you were a world-famous heartthrob or a painful geek. Maybe it didn't matter if your friend was possibly dying.

Maybe you just got through it. Maybe that was all you could ask for.”
Ann Brashares, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

John Green
“It is so hard to leave—until you leave. And then it is the easiest goddamned thing in the world.”
John Green, Paper Towns

Amanda Palmer
“The Fraud Police are the imaginary, terrifying force of 'real' grown-ups who you believe - at some subconscious level - are going to come knocking on your door in the middle of the night, saying:
We've been watching you, and we have evidence that you have NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING. You stand accused of the crime of completely winging it, you are guilty of making shit up as you go along, you do not actually deserve your job, we are taking everything away and we are TELLING EVERYBODY.”
Amanda Palmer, The Art of Asking; or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Let People Help
