Nanette is an author and illustrator, having her books published in the iTunes bookstore and her illustrations winning awards in magazines and online journals. Her inspiration to write and paint began at an early age, growing up with hearing original stories told to her by her uncle Tom. Her father and grandfather painted on the home front, and watching their art take shape inspired Nanette to create her own paintings. Her first published story appeared in her senior high school yearbook, which opened her dream of becoming a published author. At Marymount Manhattan College, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, feeling the English Department was her home. She was awarded the Alpha Chi Honors Colloquium for her book, the retelling of the O

“For books are not absolutely dead things, but do contain a potency of life in them to be as active as that soul was whose progeny they are; nay, they do preserve as in a vial the purest efficacy and extraction of that living intellect that bred them.”

Nanette Purcigliotti Although Jack Kerouac is best known for On the Road, where he paints his prose, my recent read by Kerouac, The Town And The City, is painted with scenes of city and country landscapes, a lead to his famous On the road.

The Town and the City is a coming-of-age autobiographical book, where I got insight into Kerouac's family background; his parents, his brothers and sisters. I'm into a coming-of-age book now, so Kerouac's The Town And The City was a good read.
