Another great book, Madame Author! Writing Steampunk paranormal is proving to be interesting. Now I have to figure out how to create a Steampunk outfit. Maybe parasols and Scotties will be involved. I am eagerly awaiting September! Congrats on the New York Times Bestseller list.

Blameless is due out in September, so on the bright side you don't have a whole year to wait.
My goodness, Ms. Carriger, I honestly thought I would swoon when I read the end of Changeless! I loved the book but do not do well with cliffhangers... When does Blameless come out again? All kidding aside, I just wanted to say I love your books! They are the first books that have made me actually laugh out loud, and though I get some strange looks, I couldn't enjoy them more! Keep up the good work!

All I want if for my book to make people laugh so if it has done that for you, I've succeeded! Hooray!
I found Soulless when I actually for once read the Goodreads monthly news letter and it was featured. Since then I have successfully read it at least three times, recommended it to a customer at work who then bought it, and got two friends to buy it, one of who is planning on getting it for a friend for her birthday. I absolutely love it and have requested Changeless at work so I make sure I get it the day it comes out. I just wanted to say thank you for writing such a wonderful book that makes me laugh even when that would not seem possible.
That is sweet!Marisa wrote: "Gail-

Hi Stacie, thanks for the note! I'm glad you liked the book. I listened to the first Amelia Peabody of audio tape when it came out. I think I was about 10 years old. I enjoyed it, but I'm not a big mystery fan so I never listened to or read any of the others. Speaking of reference works both the Amelia author and I use similar source materiel: Amelia B. Edwards A Thousand Miles up the Nile, I highly recommend it if you are writing in this time period. I hope Nanowrimo went well for you. And do let me know if you have any other good reference books, I'm always on the look out.All the best,
Gail

Hey there! I am posting to say I just finished your book and it was great! I picked it up in November because it sounded like something along the lines of what I was writing for Nanowrimo this year. I am borrowing some of you reference list to add to my Victorian library for reference. A great read, I can't wait for the next one. PS: Have you ever read the Amelia Peabody books? They are a great stories in Victorian Egypt.
Thanks again for the ideas toward some other research books!
My pleasure Alycia. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book, hope the next ones meet expectations.Alycia wrote: "Thank you so much for accepting my friend request, Gail! Thank you so much for accepting my friend request, Gail! I have really enjoyed reading "Soulless" and am suffering from withdrawal already, but I cannot wait to remedy this by reading "Changeless" and others. Your series is such a fresh approach to the world of fiction, thank you. I'm also so glad to meet a fellow Austen fan :)
Thanks for accepting my friendship request. And thanks for writing Soulless. It's such a great idea. Can't wait to read it.
Hi, thanks for the compliment! I have seen that Dr. Who episode but it was after I'd written the book. Was very fun to kind of see what I'd been thinking on screen, though.Hope you like the next book as much,
~ Gail

Hey, Gail! Soulless is now one of my all-time favorite books -- it's just brilliant, and so much fun.I was wondering if you were at all inspired by the Doctor Who episode, "Tooth and Claw," which featured Queen Victoria (in a setting that was a bit steampunk-ish) and a werewolf. It also alluded to the fact that the presence of the werewolf is why Victorian England had become an alternate steampunk version of itself. I saw it and thought immediatey of Soulless...
