Trivia Question

While in prison awaiting execution, Caryl Chessman wrote an often referenced account titled "Cell ____________Death Row" publ. 1954.

Despite appeals from Aldous Huxley, Ray Bradbury, Norman Mailer, Dwight MacDonald, Robert Frost, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Rev. Billy Graham--- Chessman was executed May 2, 1960.

Although his case is largely forgotten in this new century, it was made into a compelling TV film in 1977 starring Alan Alda and Talia Copola Shire. Other popular references to Chessman include those by Roger Chase, Johnny Mathis, Marlon Brando, Neil Diamond, Jonathan Kellerman, Hunter Thompson, and Kurt Vonnegut.
