This outstanding, unique writer, a Polish Jew, was born in 1892. At the dawn of World War II, he was living in South-Eastern Poland, which was occupied by the USSR. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union, he was forced to live in a ghetto, but was protected by Felix Landau, a Nazi Gestapo officer who admired his drawings. This protection, however, turned out to be more than disastrous. One day he was shot and killed in the street by Karl Günther, also a Gestapo officer, as an act of personal vengeance on Landau who had killed Günther's Jewish dentist. This writer's name was:
