Aloha | 10 comments Hi, this was posted on the Goodreads Feedback. I'm a brand new librarian so I don't know whether I'm allowed to go in and start deleting his book from the lists. It looks like a lot of work, so maybe there's an easier way.

Bitchie:
I did some more looking- this book is on FIVE PAGES of listopia lists! Not five lists, FIVE PAGES of lists. This book has been put on every list from YA to indie authors to Buddhist characters to psychopaths to hot and spicy to sci fi fantasy to best LDS fiction, and on and on and on. This book can't POSSIBLY fit all these lists! He's even on the best of the M/M Group's Love is Always Write stories, and it definitely wasn't part of that event.

Alessandra | 108 comments They frown on Librarians just deleting books from lists. Usually one posts a complaint on the list first to see if the OP will take care of it.

You could put the book on this list of books which have a pattern of gaming the system, if it fits the criteria:

Tima (tsunanisaurus) | 59 comments I notice that the author-in-question deleted his very long post. I am slightly curious as to why.

Matthew Akers | 1 comments Mr. Patrick Brown,

These accusations are unfounded, yet they are at the bottom of the book's page like I am a felon tried and convicted in a kangaroo court.

Once more, labels of OCD have been used from those who admit to not reading reading it.

Dee - I graduated from Salisbury High School. Hence, my friends in Salisbury, NC are supporting me. I asked them to on social media to do so. Is that against GR protocol or your personal opinion? The book was published on August 2. Did you put that all together yourself or did you have help?

There is no protocol for listopia preventing how many lists a book is on even though there are 1500+ lists. What is the percentage of lists for all books on GR, or is that another comparable accusation with no statistical proof.

I made one mistake posting on a thread twice. The book was placed in bookshelves, but removed anyway even though that was the moderator's protocol. Then that same moderator started all this. You all have joined in with vigor (except for two librarians).

Michael - The comment made to Ruth Foley was not disparaging. It was, "Be fruitful and multiply." That is a blessing. It comes from the first chapter of the best selling book ever. Maybe you should spend some time there as it is where most of our lexicon and figures of speech come.

Tiffani - The very long post was to ask GR that pornographic pictures and profanity from "Bitchie" be removed from the book's site.

I expected more from GR librarians. Shall I expect more guesses, retribution and accusations to continue on a new author's page from librarians that do not read books yet have thousands of book reviews?

Oh, by the way, when you do the math on the number of reviews some of these people have, it is mathematically impossible unless they are 150 years old.

Sincerely,
Matthew Akers

I'm curious. You mention "doing the math." Exactly how many books do you think it's possible to read in a year? I have a feeling you're vastly underestimating the number.

Krystal109 | 1086 comments Firstly, I think the book should be removed from irrelevant lists.

In the future, your friends should support you by rating and reviewing the book instead of putting it on non-relevant and voting it up. This only gets yourself in this kind of position.

Please contact GR's staff if you feel you have been wrongfully attacked. You can ask them to resolve the issue themselves.

I removed your book from New Speculative Fiction Stars, because doesn't fit this list.
"Speculative fiction is a fiction genre speculating about worlds that are unlike the real world in various important ways.

You should have read the Author guidelines, before to post:
"It is not advisable to engage (via comments/messages/friend requests) all the people who add your book or a related work.

Matthew wrote: "Tiffani - The very long post was to ask GR that pornographic pictures and profanity from "Bitchie" be removed from the book's site."
It was, more precisely, a long rant about the "Ballot Box Stuffing: Books For Which People May Have Gamed the Listopia System" and its "mccarthyism".

Matthew, to be frank, I expect more from authors than having their friends vote up their books on lists their books don't belong. Having read your post and seen the lists your book is on, I don't think anyone is overreacting in any way, except for yourself.

message 11: by Krystal109 (new)

Krystal109 | 1086 comments The book should simply be removed from any lists it doesn't belong.

Hopefully the author will learn something from this and not do it again. There is no reason to keep discussing it. Let rivka or GR's staff handle the issue.
