message 6: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 110 comments I once tried Library Thing. It's not that it wasn't a good site, I just like GR better. It seems more friendly. :)

message 16: by Beth F (new)

Beth F | 342 comments Goodreads is freakin' addicting! And because it is the best social networking site for readers, I voted too! I signed up for Library Thing a few years ago but lost momentum within a couple days after signing up. I signed up for GR last July and I could probably count on one hand the number of days I haven't logged on to this site.

I'm also checking the box to add this comment to my Update Feed, thereby forcing all the people on my friends list to see I commented on this thread. And hopefully they will all see the link I've attached to this comment and go vote as well.

Vote!

There's no reason to let stupid LT beat us!

I also signed up for Library Thing a few years ago and listed about 10 books. I found the site difficult to use and didn't like having to pay for listing more than 200 books. Then I found Shelfari and was in heaven until a friend from PaperbackSwapintroduced me to GR. Now I visit Shelfari once a month or so and I'm on GR way too often!

Beth F | 342 comments It turns out you can get one vote for each computer.

I've voted once from my PC at work...once from the desktop at home...and since I've figured that out, I'll cast a vote from my laptop and will also commandeer my husband's laptop and cast another vote from there.

Shady? Perhaps. But if I've figured that out, then so have others so I don't feel guilty about it. 8)

message 24: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinsullivan) | 997 comments I rally don't know how Library thing can be ahead of GR's - Good reads is SO MUCH BETTER IMO.

message 25: by Beth F (new)

Beth F | 342 comments 43 to 51 right now...only 300 votes behind. If everyone in this group voted, there's no way LT could ever dream of catching up!

message 26: by alicia (new)

alicia grant (shesha556) I voted as well.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I voted also--go GR!! I also noticed that on library thing you can only enter 200 books for free a year. I don't even plan to sign up. I like it here!!!!

I agree-the feel of GR is much more laid back and less gimmicky-its exactly the same way I feel comparing paperbackswap.com and bookmooch.com, PBS just seems way too "commercial" or something...and bookmooch very low key.

Sarita (saritalijohnson)

I voted! GR is at 40%, LT at 55%! Goodreads is the best!

Yay! Thanks for mentioning www.bookmooch.com ! I had never heard of it before. I really dig the idea of PBS, but their site is not visually appealing, and not the easiest to navigate. Just yesterday I was wishing for a similar but better site! Bookmooch so far seems to have more selections available (looks like more users, more international), and is nicely laid out. Your comment about it coming across as "low key" might come from the soft blue used throughout. Love it! Thanks!
