I thought it'd be nice to have a section where we discuss the specific books individually. So, here we go. . . .

I enjoyed sharing this with my K-2 kids. I paired it with a couple of non-fiction titles about volcanoes (just to show them--didn't read them out loud). I also asked them if they thought the events depicted in the story happened in a short time or over a long period of time. (The time issue was the one thing about the story that bugged me. I wish that the author had included some kind of small, unobtrusive time line on the bottoms of the pages to graphically give some kind of idea how long this kind of process might take.)
