Introduce Yourself to the Group!
Hi everyone! I'm Natalie. I joined goodreads at the end of 2011 and enjoyed doing the challenge in 2012. I wasn't sure how much I read and started it at 40 books. I got in a big reading mood due to rediscovering the library and having a lot of free time. I ended up reading 175 books. This year I'm going for 75, since I don't have as much free time. But I'm excited to join the group and meet people and chat about our challenges.
Hi I'm Brittany,
I don't know where to start on books I like. I started getting into reading in the 7th grade when my teacher made us read 15 mins before class and when we did the AR program.
I love reading Sarah Dessen and Emily Griffin books! I normally read books that tend to jump out at me when I'm reading the back.

Hi there, I'm Artem. Haven't read paper for a long time, but my b&n nook touch has become the most used device! I do love reading and I'm very glad I have joined such a great community. Reading rocks!
Hi group....I'm Kristi. I'm a big reader and I've always wanted to be in a book club. This group fufills both of those likes/wants. I've never kept track of all the books I've read in a year (I'm going to go back and count last years). My goal is 50 (hopefully 75 but I don't want to be too ambitious) book this year. Suggestions for new interesting books are always welcome.
You've come to the right place, Krist! Welcome! We read everything in this group. Make yourself at home and enjoy keeping track of your books this year. :)
hi! I'm andrea. 18. Engineering Student. Bibliophile. A newbie here in goodreads. I hope to have new friends. ;)
Hi ! I'm Hisana and I've just sign up today ! I'm fond of fantasy and Sci-Fi but I also love good classics. I'm not an English native speaker but I read sometimes in English!I join this group because I'm always in search of good books but I don't have a lot of people with whom I can discuss them ... And it'll be kind of a personal motivation to read instead of wandering aimlessly on the Internet ^^
Hi I'm Heather! Love reading, always carry a book with me everywhere I go. I love historical fiction, memoirs, non-fiction on topics of interest (particularly politics or economics), but my reading interests are pretty broad.Generally not a sci-fi or fantasy fan, although I definitely have been known to make exceptions. I'm currently reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.
Hey there, I'm a dedicated reader looking for some kind of plan for 2013. I want to read good books and not waste time. I'll read just about anything since it helps me with my everyday job as a freelance content writer and consultant.
HEllo-my name is Melanie. I like the idea of a reading challenge. I live to read and try all genres except romance. I prefer fiction to non-fiction, too. I read 40 books in 2012 and plan to read about the same amount. I wish I could read more, but as I'm getting older, my eyes give out as the evening progresses. I just finished "We Need To Talk About Kevin". It blew me away!! I can't wait to read updates from others and make new friends, joined by a love of reading.
Welcome Andrea, Hisana, Heather, John and Melanie!! We look forward to getting to know you better and chat about all of the books we read this year. Hopefully you find some good books from our many other members!**PS: If you are new to Goodreads, you will see your TBR (To Be Read) List increase drastically in no time at all**
Enjoy! :)
i hope this year i can keep on top of my lists on here lol. i'll usual show that i've started a book but forget to change it to read!
Hello everyone. I love reading so I decided to join this group. I am a compulsive reader and will not challenge anyone... yet. I simply want to see what kind of books you all read and hope I can keep up with such a large and nice group rules too.Thank you.
Hi, I'm Rachel, and I think I would rather read than do almost anything else. I read constantly but have never managers to keep a good record of my consumption. I'm really excited to join this group and meet some equally excited readers.
I'm Stephen, I've been using Goodreads for about 3 years off and on, but this is my first book challenge. I've decided to do 52 books in 52 weeks, and my log can be found right here.If you have similar tastes, or think you might want to do a buddy read, feel free to post in my log or let me know!
Hello! I'm Freya, hailing from Germany. I'm a reader since I learned to read (long before I came to school), and a writer too.My favourite genre is fantasy, but I also read mystery, science fiction, historical fiction, YA and horror, along with 'classics'.
Hi! My name is Gian and I live in Florida, U.S.A., but I was born in Cuba. I like reading, and I try to read in the languages that I know which includes English, Spanish (my mother tongue), Russian and Italian. Right now I am reading a book in Spanish about the Queen Sofia of Spain. Good Readings to all!El sari rojo
Hello. I have introduced myself but forgotten to tell you what books I am reading...sorry. "Love among the Artists", "Winkie" and "The most beautiful thing in the World". Good reads to all. PS At the moment reading in English but also read in Portuguese.
Welcome, Gian and Barbara! I don't speak anything but English, so I think it is very cool you are able to read in more than one language!!We hope you enjoy the group! :)

It is cool but also a serendipity of nature. Thank you!;)
My name is Barb. I LOVE reading, but never seem to have enough time to read everything that I want (I have a feeling most of you know what that is like). I love literary fiction, science fiction, biographies (especially about scientists), mysteries & recently started getting into some of the YA fiction. I love audible (otherwise my house would never get cleaned), but love to sit down with my kindle whenever I can. I'm going to try to read more nonfiction this year. I'm currently reading The Secret Piano: From Mao's Labor Camps to Bach's Goldberg Variations & am really enjoying it so far. I'm always on the look out for more books to add to my TBR list (as if it isn't long enough already), especially good literary fiction. I'm looking forward to the 2013 challenge & many good books!
Hi, guys. I'm Clara. And I have a challenge to read 100 books but I haven't listed more than around sixty. So if you have any books to recommend me, don't hesitate to send the recommendation.
Just to tell you, my favorite genres are these. So if you can find anything under these genres that sound very interesting, just recommend me it.
Political, Non-Fiction, Fiction, Mystery, Adventure, Dystopian, or philosophy (philosophy type of books like Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom) books with sad endings and/or have good morals stated in the book.

Welcome, all! It's great to see so many people interested in non-fiction, and we have a challenge JUST for you--check it out: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Craig: Looks like we have pretty similar tastes in books. I <3 Gaiman too, and I also have The Shadow of the Wind on my list to read in 2013.

Welcome Craig! Do you run in the rain?? I can't do that, lol. I just signed up for a beginner 5k program, something to help me tone up and get in better shape. I'm reading American Gods right now, and I find it quite intriging.

Welcome Barb! Non-fiction isn't really something I read either. We have a Non-fiction "Dewey Decimal Yearly Challenge" for this year. Hopefully, this will allow people to read more Non-fiction.

Welcome, Joellen! I'm hoping to delve into some of Virginia's work this year. I haven't read anything by her...what a shame!
Angie wrote: "Hi, my name is Angie and I'm from New York. I love reading and have set a goal to read 30 books this year. I'm currently reading and enjoying "The Lost Wife". Happy reading !"
Welcome, Angie!! I've been wanting to read that book. I look forward to seeing what you think when it's complete.

Hi everyone, I've already read Zafron's "A Sombra do Vento" (it came out quite early here since he is Spanish). I really enjoyed it but not so much his second book. They were poorly translated, unfortunately. I keep hearing the name Gaiman so I will check out later after I've read my books. Goodnight and thank you all. Nice reads to all.
Hi! Just joined the group and am looking forward to 2013. I am attempting to read at least 40 books this year. Between working full-time, going to school, and family obligations it could be a stretch. But without reading, I wouldn't know what to do.My favorite genre is historical fiction, especially early 20th century Britain. (As I type this, I have one eye on Season 3 of Downton Abbey.)
Wishing good luck to all in their individual challenges!
Hi Robyn, love the name and the spelling :D. looks as if we share more then a name, I also have work, school and a little one. in fact I better get off of goodreads and get a little reading done since classes start next week.
Good luck this year!
Hi - I'm Alyssa. I'm a librarian, and I love fantasy/sci-fi, and historical fiction, but I will read just about anything. Looking forward to being part of the group!
Chris is the name. librarian from Virginia. read mostly fiction, semi to literary. Just finished Life after life by Jill McCorkle, pub date March 2013, awesome. I rarely read anything that does not contain darkness, but that does not mean that I fail to enjoy light.
Welcome, Robyn! I have heard so many people talk about Downton Abbey. I must find somewhere to check it out!Welcome, Alyssa! My goal is life is to eventually become a librarian. I must wait until my husband finishes medical school and gets established first. Moving around everywhere until he gets finished makes it hard to get anything accomplished, lol.
Good luck reaching your reading goals!

Hi All,I'm Suzanne from Jo'burg, South Africa. I read alot of Martina Cole, Mandasue Heller, Lesley Pearse, Jessie Keane, Diane Chamberlain, etc. I also enjoy reading non fiction, usually relating to child abuse, kidnapping, human trafficking.
I'm Ruth, and I am a single mom, blogger, and big-time book reviewer. I generally review a book per day--not joking on that point. My blog is:http://mydevotionalthoughts.com.
So happy to be here. I thrive on challenges.
Hello everyone, my name is Felipe and I live in South Florida. I was born in Cuba, so occasionally I pickup a book in Spanish, but most of my reading is done in English. I have to do a lot of technical reading which is one of the reasons I find this group interesting and exciting. I will try to list a couple of books, but sometimes I don't stick to the list :( just depends on the mood.
Hi! I signed up for the 52 book challenge last year but between family emergencies and about 200 miles of wilderness hiking (not related) I wound up not doing it. My primary goal this year is again 52, though a good portion of them will be novellas (150-200 pages), as they are one of my favourite art forms. Let's see... single, male, cat parent, dog foster parent (my roommate has the dog), somewhat published writer trying to sell a finished book, hiker, knitter, and calligraphist.
Hi I'm Kathy. I live in northern California. Love books-and have been reading and adopting (sometimes fostering) them for years. A few of my favorites are D.H Lawerence, Charles Bukowsi, Margaret Atwood, and Flannery O'Connor. I plan on reading at least 32 books this year-I've never challenged myself to reading a certain number of books so I am really looking forward to it.

Hi, i'm AJ 26 year old guy, love a good book, an interest i have only developed in the last two years or so. Live in small country called Wales. Just finished reading The Dice Man by Luke Reinhart, really enjoyed it. Next book is probably going to be Kafka Metamorphosis, nice and short! Aim for 30 books this year-a bit optimistic!
Hello I am Patricia I made my account last week but of course I did not read the instructions. I am a massive reader and writer when not too stress my reality to stay awake. I read any format (ebook, audio, print) and have truly abused my Kindle Fire since I have received it over a year ago although I prefer print. One of the benefits of my Kindle Fire is that my friends cannot limit the number of books I purchase (donate annually to the library) based upon space for bookshelves in my house.

I'm Anni, 21, from Finland, and I've always considered myself a bookworm but lately realized that I don't really read anymore. I'm tackling this in 2013 by choosing books that sound enjoyable instead of instinctively reaching for the obscure and heavy but oh-so-sophisticated 700-page novels. This year I get to read just to have fun! I enjoy many genres, so maybe it's easier to tell what I don't like: the recently trendy supernatural young adult literature and crime novels (unless they're somehow original). My favourite ones are memoirs and travel stories, historical novels and novels that intriguingly portray a certain culture or country.
I've never been in a book club, but I love talking about books I've read, so I'm really looking forward to this year. (:
