Rebecca finished the dishes and wiped her hands. Now what could she do?

Rebecca walked outside, deciding to 'stop and smell the roses'. She had been told to do that today, and she knew that it was meant jokingly, but she liked to take things literally. She stopped when she saw the princess, but then continued, pretending she didn't see her.

Rebecca was sent to tend to the fires. She walked into one and tried to start the fire, but it was being stubborn. She was surprised to see that she had walked in on Sarah and Jerrik's lesson. She tried to be as silent as possible.

Jerrik heard the wood beat against each other. HE also saw Rebecca, the servant. He wanted to say hi but he wasn't sure whether or not it was proper so he simple smiled.

Rebecca smiled back. She turned back to the fire and glared at it. "Work!" She hissed under her breath.

Jerrik thought she was talking to him. "Excuse me?" He knew he should be working but he felt kind of put off by a servant telling him to do so.

"Hm? Oh, sorry... I wasn't talking to you, Jerrik... Stupid fire won't work..." She muttered. She sighed, nearing defeat. She stood up, dusting herself off. She got an idea. "Be right back!" She ran to the kitchen.

Jerrik shrugged. He got up and searched the bookshelves.

Rebecca grabbed a candle, lit it with the stove, and ran back to the room. She lit the wood on fire and grinned in triumph.

Rebecca shook her head. "No, not really." She stood up and dusted herself off, blowing out the candle. "I cheated, really." She curtsied on her way out. "Your Majesty... Sir Jeldenrosson."

He laughed. "I'm only a tutor, proper names are wasted on me. Besides, how can you cheat if there are no rules to break?"

Rebecca ran into another servant. "There you are! We thought you left, so all of your chores are done." The servant rolled his eyes and left.

"Well, that was rude..." Rebecca muttered, and went back to find Jerrik. Why not learn some? She snuck in and sat in the back of the room.

Jerrik was now reading a book, he was very engrossed in it.

Rebecca watched him reading. "Will you teach me? To read, I mean..."

"When?" Rebecca was happy with the prospect of reading. Books looked so pretty, she could just never understand them.
