My review for
Six Wicked Reasons by Jo Spain, a murder mystery in a very dysfunctional family.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Laid In Earth is my favourite Czech detective Josef Slonský investigation so far. Number 6 in the series harks back to the Communist regime and evidence of their interrogations in Prague. English author Graham Brack has created an appealing cast of characters.

Just finished The Marx Sisters by AA Barry Maitland. #1 in series and first published in 1994.This book was in my one of my annual challenges, so has been sitting there looking at me from my TBR 2019 list all year. It was plonked in to meet one of the difficult "X" categories, and it never really called out to me to read it, but here we are at the end of the year, so it finally was time.
I enjoyed this book, liked the main characters, and felt it had a good sense of place - I could picture Jerusalem Lane quite clearly, both the before and after versions. A good "1st in a series" opener, I will give the next in this series a go.

Realistic? No. Entertaining? Yes.Here's my review of Zoo by James Patterson

Currently reading Where the Truth Lies by Karina Kilmore, a debut crime novel from an Australian journalist, set against a waterfront dispute. Out in 2020. Prior to that, I read In The Clearing by J.P. Pomare, the second novel from the 2019 Ngaio Marsh Award winner. Melbourne-based Maori author. Excellent psychological thriller set against cults in the Australian countryside.
I enjoyed the
The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafón, #3 in the Cemetery of Lost Books quartet. Not as stunning as The Shadow of the Wind but a nicely gothic tale filling in the back story of Fermin, one of the supporting characters from The Shadow of the Wind.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Another intriguing historical mystery in the Jefferson Tayte series. The Lost Empress by Steve Robinson

I have read his Belltree trilogy and enjoyed it, and have read one of his stand alones before, so now catching up on some of the back catalogue. Was lucky to pick up a 2nd hand copy of #2 in the series from a second hand online place on the weekend. it is out of print.
B.A. Paris's new novel
The Dilemma is more of a family drama than a thriller. I was a bit disappointed with it but a lot of readers have rated it 5 stars so give it a go.review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
