I know, the teasing of William/Gilly is just annoying.

It still could be next but I doubt it. I think it's going to be Viola and this new guy that showed up that's related to McCadden (?spelling?).
Ah, Brochan, thanks for the reminder of his name. How JR Ward of her to name him that way lol!Two books next year could equal William!
Eda** # Dax Lahn's Golden Tigress # wrote: "So the next book isn't going to be William's if there still is uncertainty about his HEA....great."I actually think it is William. She originally said he is 2 books after Cameo but now on Facebook said she changed her mind on who is next and "fans will be happy" on who is next.
Here's her response to a fan asking her again in the comment section:
Reader:
"I love the book. It did make me nervous for our beloved panty melter!! I super anxious for his book now more than ever! I about died reading his parts. . Lazario...meow"
Gena's Answer:
I think you'll be happy when I announce which book will be next, releasing next year!
Let's hope William is next so our misery can finally end, ugh. Did she ever confirm that Galen&Legion will get a book?
Sarah ♥ Vutch forever ♥ wrote: "There will be two LOTU books next year?"That's what it looks like.
And I get the feeling the 2 will be tied somehow.
Sarah ♥ Vutch forever ♥ wrote: "Where did she say that?"She did a live Q&A on Facebook last week. If you go on her page you'll see it and can watch it. I don't have the exact transcript but the way she said it gave me the impression the 2 books might be tied. I could be wrong. Just my hunch.

I agree with you - I actually think this is a way to drum up interest again in the series because there has been some lag between books, and some frustration. If it is, it's not a bad idea from a marketing standpoint. Get people worked up and invested - nothing worse than a fanbase that's stopped caring.

Not that I know of, no.
So, its going to be Gilly and .... Puck. Can't say that I am too surprised. Gena has been vague for so long about William and Gilly.I know this will make some people happy and a lot of people really upset. As for me, I am more on the upset side as I think its a pretty lousy thing to do to longtime readers of the series. Gena could have done a much better job preparing her readers for this. So, I think I'm now officially done with the LOTU.

Yeah I kniw she said she was going to explain there relatuonshup an I am like yeah how do you explain all thr sexual tension between them. So now I am also pretty sure after reading Cameos book who William will end up with. I was really upset and then was like ok maybe give it a shot but im really crestfallen and can say im not as qnxious for the next book as I usually am.
Alexandra, are you thinking of this new Siobhan character? She's trapped in the mirror or something like that. She seems to have a thing for Hades, though I thought he would end up with the Harpie Taliyah. In either case, I don't really care much which is the worst feedback for a writer ever. The opposite of love isn't hate. It's indifference. And, that's where I'm at right now with the LOTU.
Lulu wrote: "Alexandra, are you thinking of this new Siobhan character? She's trapped in the mirror or something like that. He could yave one with Gillian bur if he let her go he could see he wpuld have a future with Taliyah. I get where your coming from. I only wanna read Galen and Legion or Honey or whatever she calks herself now.
Alexandra wrote: "Lulu wrote: "Alexandra, are you thinking of this new Siobhan character? She's trapped in the mirror or something like that. She seems to have a thing for Hades, though I thought he would end up wit..."Gena said on facebook Taliyah isn't William's HEA.
and she also said that Wiliam's girl hasn't appeard on the series yet...so is someone completely new...who's probably going to appear in the Darkest Warrior...this book is going to be full of angst
TheWayIDream wrote: "and she also said that Wiliam's girl hasn't appeard on the series yet...so is someone completely new...who's probably going to appear in the Darkest Warrior...this book is going to be full of angst"Oh gosh, poor William. I'm not going to read it but I feel bad for him if he gets an h like the recent ones.
Can anyone tell me what the reaction has been to this announcement on fb? I don't have a fb account, I absolutely refuse to lol, so I can't track the responses. I hope that readers are giving her some serious blowback about this.
Lulu wrote: "TheWayIDream wrote: "and she also said that Wiliam's girl hasn't appeard on the series yet...so is someone completely new...who's probably going to appear in the Darkest Warrior...this book is goin..."There is some disappointment but like 80% is actually happy praise and people defending her decision and swarming those who are upset. Which blows my mind.
I don't know what happened but I remember a lot more readers being much more vocal about Gilly/William a few years ago when I started following her on Facebook. I don't know what happened. People gave up or changed their mind. *shrugs*
I had to unfollow her page because the comments were irking me more. It's the policing and finger wagging "how dare you stop reading her books! You aren't a true LOTU fan!" "trust the author always!" You are going to quit? You are crazy!" nonsense. Um....no. Nobody can tell me what I can and can't finish. Certainly not whether I should trust an author. And who are you to tell me I'm not a true fan? LOL
She's not even getting the burnt of our disappointment but praise instead. SMH. That's what frustrates me the most because it just justifies her decision more. Everyone is thanking her for it. I'm not asking for anyone to attack her, I certainly wouldn't but authors need to know when they screwed over their readers, paying customers I might add. Stunts like this should not be patted over the back for it. Insane IMO.
Yep, i had several people already bashing me for not being a true fan, unloyal or some shit like that. They are all a bunch of hypocrites...if this had been the other way around, they would have been doing the same, "whinning and pouting", how they are calling it...I'm sorry for being rude but this recation of the fans is bothering me even more than the actual problem.

Doesn't surprise me that much. Really, at this point, only long term fans are still reading the series and those are the ones who tend to be vocal and post a lot on public sites. A lot of others have simply walked away or will walk away now and not bother posting on fb. Gena also has a core group of loyal fangirls who love everything she writes and will defend her endlessly. All you have to do is look at the first reviews that are posted on Amazon, always all 5 glowing stars, posted within a few hours of a new release. Good for her but it means that she doesn't hear the other side.
Ultimately, bottom line, will be her sales. Will the sales stay steady for this book or will they drop ? None of us will ever know as that information is guarded carefully. Well, I won't be buying the book and I know several others who are also disappointed who will now drop the series, so my guess is that her sales numbers will drop overall as I don't think she's attracting huge numbers of new readers to the series at this point. So, hopefully, she will pay for this decision in that way.
I'm not buying anything from her anymore. She's honestly no longer had been an "instant buy" author for me the last few years, but I still bought some of her books time to time. And I definitely kept reading the LOTU books because I wanted to know what happened. I'm certainly not reading anymore LOTU. I don't care and I certainly don't want to know how it plays out after this. It's a story I didn't ask for nor want. It's going to be a lot of heavy handed rewrites and contrived explanations to undo everything she built up through the whole series which again, I don't understand how this route makes more sense and Gilliam "didn't work" anymore. That's a pile of BS if I ever heard it. It's not that they didn't work anymore and fans wouldn't be "satisfied" it's because she plain doesn't want them herself. Period. I don't get why she can't even be honest about that and trying to spin it into something elaborate to benefit her fans. The story threads was all there, all of it just sitting there, you're telling me it didn't work now? Blah.
Now she has to go out of her way to explain and undo everything which to me is more work. 😅
The only thing I'll miss not knowing about is how Galen's story plays out. I was also really invested in him and Legion. I'm bummed I won't get to see how that unfolds. And I definitely wanted to read more about Axel, Bjorn and Xerxes(?). Her Angels spin off was honestly stronger than her recent LOTU books so I was surprised she stopped it. I always wondered if it was because she was swamped with writing so many series at once or sales wasn't good.
I doubt her sales will hurt cause like you said she has a very loyal fanbase who will stick with her like glue. Just wish there was more vocal upset over this. It is what it is.
I don't know. Gillian never was a favorite of the majority of fans, unless she was paired up with William. i got the feeling that people in general don't really care about her, and since Puck is a new character as well, i think this is going to be Kane Book 2.0Also i'm worried of how is she going to handle all the "sexual abuse" situation. That is a very serious theme and need to be handled very carefully. And goat man is just...i don't understand. How can you put a victim os sexual abuse with a half-animal? it is some kind of a joke? He's not even a shapeshifter, with what a don't really have trouble, but a satyr. Mr. Tumnus kinda guy. I don't have the hots for Mr. Tumnus.
TheWayIDream wrote: "I don't know. Puck will make her feel safe and awaken her sexual desires like "nobody else" ever has. She started that in Baden's book. Complete left swerve 180 from what previously has played out. Gena is going to ask readers to completely dismiss and forget Gilly straight out begging William and being upset when he kept turning her down when she asked if they could sleep together or be together. Forget all the times she said William was the only one who made her safe and only man she ever thought of sexually and was attracted to. The rewrite started a little in Baden's book. I knew it wasn't looking good but was still hoping that she did that just to keep her options open. Guess not.

So true. Un-doing everything she set up seems like a hell of a lot more work. It will end up being a convoluted mess or Deus ex Machina explanation. (I still haven't gotten over the "Love In A Jar" ending of Haadie's book lololol)
TheWayIDream wrote: "He's not even a shapeshifter, with what a don't really have trouble, but a satyr. Mr. Tumnus kinda guy. I don't have the hots for Mr. Tumnus. "LOL! That made me smile! Mr. Tumnus.
Gillian was never a favourite of the fans because Gena kept showing her as this whiny teenager and we have been reading about William thinking how youuuuuung and inexperiencedddddd and fragiiiiiile she is...of course most of the readers won't like her after being accustomed to female characters like Anya and all her lookalikes-soundalikes... >_>I hope at least Galen and Legion end up together, and someone brand new doesn't show up at the last minute.
people talking about how William lusting for Gillian is creepie but then when Gena paired her up with a Half-goat kind of man they are suddenly ok with it...Ironic shit is ironic
Eda** # Dax Lahn's Golden Tigress # wrote: "Gillian was never a favourite of the fans because Gena kept showing her as this whiny teenager and we have been reading about William thinking how youuuuuung and inexperiencedddddd and fragiiiiiile..."Yeah. It was weird. In Reyes book we were introduced to this strong young girl who was severly abused by her family and then lived on the streets for a year and THEN went to work as a waitress, fourteen hours a day, who train herself in self defense after that. If that isn't strong, then i don't know what is.
TheWayIDream wrote: "Yeah. It was weird. In Reyes book we were introduced to this strong young girl who was severly abused by her family and then lived on the..."EXACTLY my thoughts. After book 1, we didn't get another Ashley kinda female character and was stuck with a thousand Anyas... I was hopeful about Gilly for this reason, she reminded me of the strong-without-paranormal-sh*t kinda woman portrait we all loved in Ashley. I love Gena's writing but let's all admit: It has gotten a little repetative in time. Both male and female leads have been very much alike for the last 5-6 books. William and Gilly were so opposite...I wanted to see THAT. *sigh*
Anyways...What's done is done.
TheWayIDream wrote: "people talking about how William lusting for Gillian is creepie but then when Gena paired her up with a Half-goat kind of man they are suddenly ok with it...Ironic shit is ironic"No kidding, you are so right. And, I agree with you about how Gilly was strong, given her horrible past. I would have loved to see her grow and mature even further.

If sales drop enough - and I think they'll drop more than Gena is bargaining for - the PUBLISHER will be the one to decide whether to continue the series past William and Viola's books. I'm one of the ones quite happy Gilly and William are not ending up together (I really don't like William at all and don't care if he ever gets a book or not) but I can see how she's definitely fubar'd things with many *paying* fans by going the Gilly/Puck ret-con route.
p.s. can someone tell me what SMH stands for?
♥ℳelody wrote: "It's going to be a lot of heavy handed rewrites and contrived explanations to undo everything she built up through the whole series"There's actually a term for an author doing what you mention - heavy handed rewrites and contrived new backstory explanations. It's called Ret-Con. It's short for retro-active continuity. It's a term that originated in the comic book industry and has migrated to things like tv shows, movies, novels, etc. Basically any story where the author or authors go back over an established 'canon' and tell the fans no, that isn't what was going on at all even if our hints and build up made it seem otherwise ( *rolls eyes* ) - that was just all part of the plan to throw in a surprise twist ( *more rolls eyes* ). What was really happening all along is what we now present to you. (*uh huh...riiiiiight...*)
Look at Star Wars. George Lucas ret-con'd the heck out of the first one. But as Gena shows there are authors who have no problem ret-con-ing their own earlier published novels. Angels getting ret-con'd into Sent Ones conveniently after she finds religion is another example.
Random, thanks for that explanation. I have recognized when authors or directors have done such things but didn't know it had a name.
♥ℳelody wrote: "Stunts like this should not be patted over the back for it. Insane IMO."Why shouldn't the readers who like her decision tell her so?
I don't know why the fans of William with Gilly are so quiet or in the minority on FB.
Lulu wrote: "I would have loved to see her grow and mature even further."
Do you think she won't grow in her book?
