I started and finished Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman and it was so good! I didn't like it quite as much as Bruiser (but that book is hard to beat!) but I had all kinds of feels with this read! It actually freaked me out a little, but I thought the whole thing was very well done and very clever. And I think Shusterman's son is a genuis, much like his dad!

Starting a reread of Keeping the Castle by Patrice Kindl for Heidi's group, and going to start End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) by Susan Ee !!

Lisa (ylisa7) Almost halfway through Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard and it is really good.

message 13116: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I recently read the following books:

The Orthogonal Galaxy (Galaxy Series, #1) by Michael L. Lewis
Emotion Amplifiers by Angela Ackerman
Beauty and the Beast by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont
FLEDGLING (Afterlife, #1) by Katrina Cope
Monster! by Nicholas Boyd Crutchley
Warlords of Llantatis by Dominic Green
The Haunted Circus by Susan Day

Now I'm reading The Young Elites on my Kindle, and listening to The Outlaw Demon Wails on audio CD.

message 13117: by Ashley Marie (new)

Ashley Marie currently in-progress: First Test (Protector of the Small, #1) by Tamora Pierce Black Dove, White Raven by Elizabeth Wein Challenger Deep by Neal Shusterman

priority: All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque

I'm actually surprised at how easy to read All Quiet is, for being written so long ago. Usually older classics mean I need to take notes or read the same sentence five times to make sure I understand what's going on, but this is very straightforward.

Killer Instinct (The Naturals, #2) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Since I last posted I've finished Bone, Vol. 3 Eyes of the Storm (Bone, #3) by Jeff Smith Bone, Vol. 4 The Dragonslayer (Bone, #4) by Jeff Smith Bone, Vol. 5 Rock Jaw, Master of the Eastern Border (Bone, #5) by Jeff Smith , Locke and Key Vol. 4 Keys to the Kingdom by Joe Hill Locke and Key Vol. 5 Clockworks (Locke & Key) by Joe Hill Locke & Key, Vol. 6 Alpha & Omega by Joe Hill , and The Curse of the Wendigo (The Monstrumologist, #2) by Rick Yancey

4 more books left in the Bone series, a fantasy both epic and hilarious

Locke and Key is... well kind of indescribable. Recommended for "mature" readers. So long as you feel you fall under than umbrella and are not opposed to reading comics, I highly recommend.

And Curse of the Wendigo was just amazing. I really, really like The Monstrumologist, but its sequel blew it out of the water, IMO.

Next up for me, Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer

I finished Killing Patton The Strange Death of World War II's Most Audacious General by Bill O'Reilly and overall I liked it. I don't think I'd go as far to say I enjoyed it, and it did take me awhile, but it was very heavy subject matter. Very graphic stuff in terms of war. But it was interesting to learn more about the "behind the scenes" stuff you don't hear or read about much.

I would question everything written or said by Bill O'Reilly. Just sayin':)

I finished Red Queen (Red Queen, #1) by Victoria Aveyard and while I really enjoyed it I am not happy that it is going to be a series. I am tired of all the YA series. It would be nice to finish a story in one book sometimes, lol.

Now I am reading Dead Wake The Last Crossing of the Lusitania by Erik Larson

I wasn't sure about it in the first 20%, but it picked up after that, and now - at about 47% in - I'm really enjoying it. It's not the most amazing book I've read recently, but it's good enough that I'm glad I took a chance on it.

Partially why I had to stop the Clockwork Scarab, I want to continue it eventually because... Sherlock Holmes themed things are truly my weakness but it was just too confusing for the time of day I was reading it at.

So good. It's rare for me to read something, regardless of how well written, and think "How did they even come up with this?" which L&K had me thinking multiple times.

Only on chapter 7 of Scarlet, but enjoying it so far.

You should look into Bone if you haven't yet. Basically imagine a Lord of the Rings type fantasy, but for kids and hilarious, without losing any epicness.
