You definitely should. Sorry if I sound like a half-crazed fan, but it's probably the best series I've read

message 55: by Angelique (new)

Angelique (angelique682) Aren't we all on goodreads (and in Sherlocked) cos we are half crazed fans over some sort of book?

message 56: by Emily, Ms. amazing lady who invited me to join :) (new)

Emily (emilydodd221) | 530 comments Mod
Why, yes.

message 57: by Angelique (new)

Angelique (angelique682) Why then it really does not matter if we are then does it? We are among equals

message 58: by Randy (new)

Randy Blackwell | 1 comments Hey, my name is Randy Blackwell and I the author of Rise of the Magi. I need some help with a project. I know I just joined the group and if this is against the rules or the "message me before you know me" method of contacting you offends you please please delete this post and Im sorry.

A while back I shelved a Christian video game project and decided to work on a project that I could have more control over and required no funding. I decided to write a novel. Books get made into movies and movies get made into video games. This is what I call "the long road" to my original goal.

I have had my first novel "Rise of the Magi" published and my publisher tells me that the second novel in the series will be published by August.

I am using my company (Lamplight Media) to publish a hardback D&D style Christian Roleplaying game book and some expansion books with it. It will be a pencil/paper/dice game with Christian symbolism and parabolic teaching with team building. Good for youth groups, gamers, and home schoolers.

I recently applied for a vendors booth at Dragon Con. Dragon Con is a multigenre convention which takes place once each year in Atlanta, Georgia. As of 2012, the convention draws attendance of 52,000, features hundreds of guests, encompasses five hotels in downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park, and runs thousands of hours of programming for fans of science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and other elements of fan culture.

There were thousands of applicants for the 350 booths available. Lamplight Media was one of the applicants chosen because of the uniqueness of our product (Christian Fantasy/sci-fi novels, RPG Books, and art). I count it a God thing that we were chosen out of so many secular applicants.

I have spoken to several vendors who have gone to Dragon Con before. I have heard everything from that I will sell a thousand books a day to i will sell 50 a day. To decrease my risk in the amount of prints that I end up taking and to absorb some of the cost of creating the art and RPG Book I have started a Kickstarter project with some cool backing rewards.

My goal is to reach 5,000. So far we have $991 in backing from 20 backers and 25 days to go before the Kickstarter campaign ends. My daily goal is 175 to reach the 5000 in 30 days and we are $59 short of reaching that daily goal. I would like to ask you to go to

http://kck.st/18QUHcd ,

watch the video, and consider backing the project for whatever reward you are interested in.

Caitlin Lillie (kiwibookworm) OMG yes Divergent was amazing and Delirium was pretty good too. Have you read The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness ? Different but still amazing dystopian.

I really wanna read that series but haven't got rund to it yet. Everyone says it's really good.

Hannah (hannah109) | 681 comments Mod
Em says it's really good, but it's not the sort of book I'd pay $30 for (books in NZ are ridiculously expensive) and none of my libraries have it.

message 62: by Innaya (new)

Innaya | 102 comments aaawwww...... books in the whole world are getting really really expensive! :( that is teh saddest thing ever! *sobs*
i have a dream with my brother that one day we will make a library around here. cuz where i live, there are no libraries around.

message 63: by Hannah, Ms really sweet and very thankful ;) (new)

Hannah (hannah109) | 681 comments Mod
I suppose books aren't ACTUALLY getting more expensive- they are actually cheaper if you simply buy them online. I'm a bit old-fashioned, though, and I prefer the smell of a brand-new book, and the sound of a spine being cracked open for the first time (that sounded really dodgy, didn't it?).

message 64: by Innaya (new)

Innaya | 102 comments hahah. well, that feeling is awesome! but for me, books are less cheaper if i buy them from actual stores instead of online. there's a hole line of shops that sell used books. i buy most of them from there. but i never find the one i am looking for. :(
but yeah, e-books are cheaper but i don't like them. and i only have a laptop......yet *evil smile*......so ebooks....nnnoooooo! :)

Jessica (jesskingxoxo) | 876 comments Mod
you can just read the drafts of books for free on your laptop hehe

message 66: by Hannah, Ms really sweet and very thankful ;) (new)

Hannah (hannah109) | 681 comments Mod
Let's just hope that no internet piracy police (or whatever they're called) come snooping around our conversations JESS. I'm 98% sure what you just said is illegal.

message 67: by Jessica, Ms. fun and very entertaining (new)

Jessica (jesskingxoxo) | 876 comments Mod
Hmmm, you were the one that introduced it to me. And it's the draft that the actual author sometimes posts on their website. That can't be illegal when they willingly provide it.

message 68: by Innaya (new)

Innaya | 102 comments hahaha, yep, i hope so!

message 69: by Hannah, Ms really sweet and very thankful ;) (new)

Hannah (hannah109) | 681 comments Mod
I may have introduced you to it, but I don't go around telling everyone online!

Jessica (jesskingxoxo) | 876 comments Mod
Hrmm, the Richelle Mead provided her book drafts online anyway, and I only read her drafts.

Grace C. | 69 comments A book I would suggest to anyone would be Under The Dome by Stephen King if you enjoy Sci-Fi.

message 78: by Jessica, Ms. fun and very entertaining (new)

Jessica (jesskingxoxo) | 876 comments Mod
Ooh, I like Sci-Fi. What is the gist of the story?

message 79: by Grace (new)

Grace C. | 69 comments Under the Dome takes place in a small town in Maine. One day, a Dome appears around the whole town. The citizens of Chester's Mill have learn how to survive in this dome, even when some people are seizing for no reason and talking about pink stars. It's a long book, but I love it so far. You should totally check it out!

Melanie xx (melsx3) | 3 comments Delirium is honestly a wonderful and well written series, I promise you'll fall inlove with it immediately. Divergent was so so so so good as well! And as for die for me, I haven't read it but I'm sure it's great!

Hannah (hannah109) | 681 comments Mod
I threw it across the room when I finished it. There was just too little romance and too much fighting. The ending was exactly as I'd guessed, though, so I was okay with that.

message 91: by Emily, Ms. amazing lady who invited me to join :) (new)

Emily (emilydodd221) | 530 comments Mod
Really? You, Hannah, who is currently reading A Game Of Thrones, threw a book across the room because there was too much violence??

message 92: by Hannah, Ms really sweet and very thankful ;) (new)

Hannah (hannah109) | 681 comments Mod
No, I threw a book across the room because there wasn't enough romance. The violence wasn't an issue; if anything, it could have been written better.
