What do you think of the grammar in this book? For me I got used to it after a couple of chapters but having no quotation marks was a little difficult......

I got used to it quickly and found it very creative, thought it was a nice touch to show what the characters are actually like
When my sister first recommended the book to me, I didn't pick it up right away because of the grammar used. Every time I read books with language like this, I end up up speaking like that for days. After reading the book, however, I realized that it really worked like that. The way Moira built Saba's world, I don't think it would have worked without the way they spoke. Not to mention, we learned that these characters were uneducated. They didn't have school or books or anything to learn from. Except for Pinch. He spoke regally and I was kind of sad to see him die. Overall, I loved the book AND it's grammar. I applaud Moira for being able to write her entire book like that and not going crazy. If I wrote a book like that, I would go insane from not correcting all my grammar. The only thing that really bugged me was the missing quotation marks. Sure, I got used to it. A couple pages from the end. But was it really necessary to not have them?
I got used to it, but it's hard to do, and I mean, it worked, but it did not make me like Saba! She's so smart but I can't take her seriously!

Maybe I'm just weird, but I liked Saba. She seemed real to me and she was a good main character because she didn't have the whole hero complex thing going and she was flawed. I got used to the grammar and it wasn't that difficult for me to read it with out the quotations. The writing worked with the setting.
I hated it at first but learned to ignore it. The worst part was probably the speech, because without speech marks I found it kinda hard to guess at times when the talking had stopped and it gone back to narration.
