Peggy | 21 comments Hiya, Scottk. Do you know if this was a recent book or series? Randall Garrett had a series of books featuring Lord Darcy (wiki here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Dar...), and Robert Sheckley had 3 books featuring his detective Hob Draconian: The Alternative Detective, Draconian New York, and Soma Blues, but these are both older series.

ScottK | 28 comments I think it may be the Lord Darcy ones...maybe it has been a while so it would be an older series. I will have to check them out ! Thanks Peggy !

Too Many Magicians is the first book in the Lord Darcy series, written by Randall Garrett. Followed by Ten Little Wizards and A Study in Sorcery written by Michael Kurland after Garrett's death.

ScottK, do you want to call this Solved or keep looking?
