What did you think of the book?

I haven't watch the movie, so I can't tell is it better or not. But the book is one of the most strangest books that I have ever read in my life. In spite that from time to time I didn't understood the book, I liked it. But I think that the final is not my final definitely. I thought that Alex will change his life and will learn his lesson, but obviously this is not the idea.
The latest comment came at an opportune moment for me, at least the email announcement of it. I was just recently thinking about the differences between the book and film as regards Alex's encounter with the cat lady. In the book, he's distracted by a bust of Beethoven while the cat lady attacks with a stick, in the film it appears the cat lady is swinging a bust of Beethoven at him while he wields a giant penis. I not be sure it actually was a Beethoven bust, though.
