Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Is anyone else suffering from the recent Amazon upgrade? I haven't sold or lent a single book for the past four days and my charts on Author Central have flatlined and then shot downwards. I keep hoping that when they take away the 'sorry' sign at the top, I'll have a sudden surge, but it's easy to think I've suddenly gone out of fashion. Normally I'd throw another KDP promotion, but there's no way I'm doing that when the Zon can't get its act together. Either the free sign would never come on, or it wouldn't go off.

Sigh. Keep writing, Katherine, keep writing.

What's up? What has Amazon done this time?

I have a free promotion coming up today week, and it's time limited, as the Select period for the books in it run out a couple of days later.

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments I (and quite a few others from what I hear) have had the usual "We are experiencing a delay in updating your sales info. Rest assured that we are working to update this page as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!" for the past 4 days. First the ratings started going up and down with no sales reported and then EVERYTHING stopped. My books are nosediving into the mulch like pine cones. I don't know why they're thanking me for my patience, because I really don't have any! Why is it that they can't make a change to a program without stuffing everything else up? This all started when they changed the book sale reporting on Author Central. What I'm really worried about is that I'm not actually selling any books and need to do some major promoting.

Thanks for the explanation. I checked, and sales for books out more than a year are about 70 fewer than last year in July, about a fifth down. But newer books are picking up sales. I just don' want the Zoo to screw up the free days again. It's such a pain dealing with with the apparatchiks.

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments What happens if you go into your KDP account instead of Author Central? Are sales reflected there?

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments K, I didn't even know about sales rankings on Author Central, I always check at KDP (if I check at all). I think that was a good thing, just checked it out and the graph looks like someone having heart palps. Which they would if they looked at the sales!

Sales are reflected at Authro Central? I'd better take a look there. I generally just look at KDP "Reports" if I want to know how individual books are doing.

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments Well, they're claiming that the reporting on AC has nothing to do with reporting on KDP, so maybe I am just dead in the water. :(

message 11: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciasierra) | 2388 comments Katie, is it possible that AC reports only on those books that have an ISBN?

message 12: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 1099 comments It always used to report my ebooks, Patricia. It's only since they upgraded the other 'real' book report process that my reports have stopped. And I find it strange that I suddenly stopped selling books (as shown on KDP) at the same time. It's like my books have dropped off the face of the earth.

Did have one sale in the UK yesterday, so I guess they're still there somewhere.

Sharon Tillotson (storytellerauthor) | 1802 comments I hope you get it sorted soon, Katie.

I haven't been motivated to get my book in print yet, and it does show up on AC, though it was scary enough I might never set foot in there again, :-)). I may have given KDP my ISBN number when I pubbed, they are free from our Government (the body that collects income tax, grin).
