A large field surrounded by a track for exercise. After all they do say that exercise can help discipline the mind :)

Amber dropped her things near the beginning of the field, plopped beside her bag and peeled her boots off. She hopped up again and performed a few acrobatic maneuvers to get her blood rushing. Her ruby hair flickered in the wind, looking more like tiny flames and she spun and jumped around. When done with that she dropped her jacket as well, revealing her backless shirt. She didn't care to reveal much skin, but the shirt was necessary so that she could fly. She stretched her toes and arms out. A moment later her iridescent wings, frosty blue like glass, spread out. They fluttered and she visibly relaxed, dropping her arms and digging her toes into the ground.
Pulling her crazy curls back away from her hair, Destiny tied it up in a messy bun and shrugged out of her jacket. The wing tattoos peeked out from behind her black sports bra, clashing with her obvious quiet demeanor. She slipped white headphones into her ears, her Ipod being held securely by the band around her upper arm. Keeping her eyes solely on the challenge the track posed in front of her, she took off at a light pace. She running shoes clipped against the pavement, the sound lost in the white noise behind the blasting music from her speakers.
Carter wandered around the camp, completely out of his element. Everything was so clean, and neat, and orderly. He was hopelessly lost, even though he'd already been there a week. Everything was just so...different. He walked onto the track, trying to get his bearings. His cabin was to the west, the mess hall was north...or was it east? Then there was the boulder, the information center, the infirmary....and it was all so spaced out. Carter shook his head and started jogging around the track. Maybe running would help him clear his head.
Destiny's eyes were focused down on the cement passing underneath her feet, the blur a nice escape. Rock music blared from her Ipod, blocking out any other sounds. It was completely heavenly, never having to worry about being careful with actions and words. The camp was overwhelming, but at least they had this place. The field would be a perfect place to practice gymnastics. It was harder being away from this foster home then she'd expected: taking care of the two little boys have become routine. She shook the thought away, which only caused her tie to start slipping from it's position holding her hair back.
Carter jogged around the track, thinking to himself. Here the campers weren't supposed to worry about anything but themselves and their powers. Everything else was taken care of. That was nice, not having to worry about food or bedding or anyghin. But thinking of himself was the part he couldn't quite wrap his head around. How was he supposed to think about himself? He'd really only come to camp so he wouldn't hurt anyone with his power. Crossing his eyebrows, he continued to run, thinking it might help him if he ran longer and harder.
Destiny pushed herself faster, and with her eyes still trained downward, it almost felt like she was flying. Her hair streamed out behind her as she moved, wishing she could outrun everything along with it. Leave it all behind in the dust. The idea made her smile, even if it was impossible. Her muscles pumped with the music, fueling her to keep going without stopping. Music was her drug: it helped her focus, but also took her away from the world for awhile. Her shoes continued clipping the cement. And then suddenly, she was colliding with someone else, taking them both down.
30 seconds. You can beat it. Amber focused her eyes on the furthest point of the track and inhaled as much as she could. She checked her hair to make sure it was tied back, spread her arms, and took off.Her wings beat so quickly they were no more than a frosty blur, making a gentle whizzing sound as she raced around the track at an impressive speed. Flying was one of the few things in the world that put a genuine smile on her face.
Carter didn't notice anyone else on the track, to lost in his own thoughts, until someone ran into him. Before he could even think, he was on the ground, tangled up with someone. He landed face down on the track, and barely missed his face getting skin scraped off. Pushing himself up by his hands, he looked over at the other person. "You okay?" He asked.
Sammy walked over to the track curiously. He'd glanced at the map on the information place...but it seemed kind of outdated. And extremely hard to read. Therefore he had decided to wing it, walking around campus and hoping he could find he was back to his cabin. He was extremely pleased to have found the track first, that was a stroke of luck since it would probably became one of his favorite places here.
Amber's eyes shot open at the slight change in the winds- she could feel their speed and scent differ. Someone had stepped onto the track. She was going so fast she barely had time to tilt her wings and drag herself to a stop, nearly slamming into a blonde boy who was way too close. She blew a cold breath through her lips and narrowed her pale eyes in a glare. "Excuse me? Could you please watch where you're going?" now that she was closer, she noticed his smell. A shifter. How very interesting...
Sammy looked at her incredulously, raising his eyebrows. "You can't honestly be serious right?" oh. Faerie wings. They couldn't lie. Apparently she was. "I think the fault is yours...since you nearly ran into me when I was at a standstill." he remarked, stepping back. Invasion of personal space much?
"I was going to fast too notice you." Amber replied dryly. She gave her wings another flap and a cold gust of wind buffeted the grass below their feet. "You're new, aren't you? Only a baby would be foolish enough to flounce into the middle of the track."
Sammy narrowed his eyes, and they fell into slits. This girl was kind of a bitch. "First year. Problem?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. He got goosebumps as the air around him chilled with the flap of her wings, but ignored it-determined to glare at her.
"Not so long as you don't get in my way." the fairy curled a lock of hair around her finger and pushed it behind her ear. Amber gave a stretch and twired around, stopping to face him for just a few seconds. "If you'd be so kind as to move to the other side of the track, I might not turn you into an ice sculpture. Alright?"
Samuel couldn't control the low hiss that came out of his mouth, and the urge to bare his teeth at her was incredibly hard to resist. This girl really needed a reality check. "Fly off a cliff and drop." he snapped, turning on his heels to walk away.
"Choke on kitty litter!" Amber spat back. Her eyes widened and she wondered what in world had led her to use such a petty insult. Or why she had used a cat reference. "I apologize, that was below me." it was entirely true. Nothing but the finest of insults she would allow to leave her lips. "I do not hope you choke on kitty litter, that seems entirely unpleasant."((She talks like an old fashioned 1700's person, FYI.))
Sammy rolled his eyes and kept walking. She wasn't taking that back now. He rolled his shoulders, loosening his tense muscles. He felt as if he was till tensed for an attack. Apparently the track wasn't going to be his favorite place.
Oh well. Amber didn't mind the lack of response and stretched again. Her desire to beat her previous record of 32 seconds around the track completely overpowered her desire to leave. This boy wasn't all that bright, as far as she could tell, but at least he was out of the way.She took her previous stance, spread her wings, and focused her gaze. The outside world very well melted away as she took flight, becoming a sparkling blur that bolted around the track.
The girl who ran him over didn't seem to care to answer, or even give him a second glance, so Carter just pushed himself up to a standing position. His hands were a little scraped up, but it wasn't bad. "Have fun running." He said, then walked away from the track. Maybe he could find something a little less violent and dangerous.

She sat up suddenly, grabbing her headphones that had been ripped from her ears. Destiny stood up, wincing slightly at where the skin on her shoulder had been scraped off. Chasing after the poor stranger she'd slammed into, she placed her hand on his arm lightly. "Hey, I'm really sorry about that. I wasn't paying attention even though I should've been and-" She shot him a small smile, her nervous rambling not a normal habit for her. Running a hand through her curls, blood trailed down her skin, but she barely noticed. "Are you okay? That face plant seemed kinda. . . Painful." Her bluntness was also new.
