One of the most humorous series I have ever read was the "One for the Money" series of eighteen books. It certainly was a laugh riot and quite entertaining. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to read something light and fun. Don't be put off by the series from the movie. The movie did not serve the books any justice.

Hi Everyone, I just finished reading, "The StarboardSea" by Amber Dermont. If you remembered and enjoyed
"Catcher in the Rye" put this novel on your must read
list. Jason is a contemporary "bad boy" from the 1980's.
It's a story of growing up through sad, difficult times
blended with some pretty amazing sailing moments coupled
with friendship & love. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

the flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot LiveseyI finished reading this book on July 10th. Here's my
thoughts. It is a story of displaced girl, Gemma, who finally finds a place in the world and finally belongs.
As the author indicates, it was set in the 1950's, 1960's, a contemporary Jane Eyre. Definitely a women's novel.
Jess, that series really sounds good for both my husband and I. Thanks for sharing.

Hope-A Tragedy by Shalom AuslanderThis book was definitely not my type of book. Being sensitive in nature, I failed to see the humor and wit. I didn't get it nor did I understand poking fun at tragic events.

Last summer I decided to read the 39 Clues series since so many of my students were reading it. I needed to have at least 2 books at a time on hand so I could go straight from one to the next.
has anyone ever read anything by Ann Rule? I am readingone of her crime stories now. She is the best true crime author out there.
If you have any interest in teen fantasy or sci-fi (you read hunger games or harry potter, etc) I highly recommend the Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix. The first book, Sabriel, tells the story of a young girl who is at boarding school when she finds out her father, whose job is to ensure that the dead stay out of the mortal world, goes missing. She leaves to search for him and travels into the mysterious Old Kingdom to find out what happened to him. The world Sabriel inhabits is separated by a wall--the south side of the wall is much like early 20th century England, while the north (the Old Kingdom) is almost medieval, and magic still exists there. The world is beautifully wrought--I was sad to leave it when I finished the trilogy!
I will forever love the harry potter series and will revisit it often. Actually on that note I just took out Harry, a History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard, His Fans, and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon from the library and I will be investigating it soon. I've heard mixed reviews about it but I have also heard that it is very nostalgic in the sense that it makes you fall in love with the series all over again.I also loved the Millennium Series (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo if that helps you that haven't heard of it. Once you start really getting into the plot and the characters you become hooked. Absolutely hooked. Lisbeth Salander is one of the most interesting characters I have ever read about.
I am also about to embark on the A Song Of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones for those who are not familiar). As well as the Atlantis series since I have heard that it came before and is perfect for Lost fans (which I absolutely loved!)
I am currently reading book #3 of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. I HIGHLY recommend this series!!!! George R.R Martin is an excellent author, to say the least. Nothing about his work is predictable! I cannot put these books down, this series is a must read!
I just finished reading The Pilgrim at Tender Creek by Anne Dillard for our Sayville Reading Club. Although I would never have picked this book to read, I definitely got involved. Anne Dillard saw life through her immediate surroundings through her eyes as well as through the eyes of Nature and God. A very interesting read.
Any James Patterson fans out there? I love James Patterson books. My favorites are the ones with Alex Cross. I am going to read The Postcard Killers and can't wait to get started.
I love James Patterson books...easy to read and they keep you wanting more. I just read Lullaby by Robert B. Parker/Ace Atkins. Reminded me a lot of Alex Cross books, except that it took place the projects of South Boston. It was a page-turner!
I just finished reading The Postcard Killers and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fast reading with lots of action. I'm starting the Litigators by John Grisham now. What was your favorite book by James Patterson, Laura? I loved Swimsuit.
I have read so many of his books...my favorite would have to be Suzanne's Diaries for Nicholas....did you read that one, Sue? The Postcard Killers was great. I love that his books grab and hold my attention. I love the entire Alex Cross series. Sue, you might want to try reading Lullaby. If you pick it up, tell me what you think.
Laura, I read Suzanne's Diaries for Nicholas and loved it but I have not read Lullaby yet. I'll let you know what I think of it when I read it. I just finished reading, M Butterfly for my Book Club. I wasn't sure what I was going to think of the screenplay but I enjoyed it. I thought the book was quite sad and tragic.
