ABANDONED. YA sci-fi book about a clone on an island with a rare type of lizard, and he has a famous scientist for a father

I'm looking for a young adult (or possibly juvenile) sci fi book where the main character is this kid is on an island with a rare type of lizard, and he has a famous scientist for a father. His father had been made sterile from the nuclear accident years before, and had cloned himself to create his son (the main character). It's probably a long shot, but if anyone has any ideas of what this book might be it'd be great!
