Mystique | 17 comments I have read the entire Tairen Soul series and have fallen in love with the characters. The books were just awesome and the author's writing style and the intriguing plot made me stay up night after night to finish the series. Now, any book I read isn't as good as the Tairen Soul series. Is there any book at all out there that is good as this series??

I find books that have great potential to turn out as a series, but end up being the only one with these main leads in a series with different main leads for each book. That's one of the reasons I like tairen soul. It has the same couple throughout and isn't just all about getting laid, which I keep seeing in paranormal romance books; there just isn't good character development there;(

The only books that have great character development are YA romance books, which in terms of romance move slow;(

It's sooo hard to find a good series with the same couple throughout and great character development. And please, I don't like reading ones where the female lead sleeps around with another guy during a "misunderstanding" with the male lead. Can someone think of any good series with these conditions??

Thank You in advance;p

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) Well, my favorite series is currently the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, I haven't read your series though, but so far I can't find anything that even comes close to mine!

You should check it out!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments NONE come close to The Tairen Soul series! It's the best and the most unique I have ever read. I read all five books, put them down and picked up the first one and read them all again. I've NEVER done that.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments Have you tried Diana Gabaldon's series?

The first book is Outlander.
Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon

It is more historical romance with a slight paranormal element (she time travels) but it is a wonderful series and each book is horrendously long but you fly through them. It is definitely not YA though since there are some steamy scenes in it.

message 5: by Mystique (new)

Mystique | 17 comments Yea...I tried Outlander series...but stopped on like the third book...because the books became too thick for me and there was a lot of historical/religious focus that for me seemed to distract from the romance?

As for the fever series, I heard that the romance develops very slow over the series??

Mystique | 17 comments Yea...I do the same thing Terry...I keep re-reading them over and over again too;)

Keisha (kjbug07) | 1 comments Nalini Singh's Guild Hunters Series... It's wonderful & follows the same characters while also introducing others. Another great series is J.R. Wards Brotherhood series.. each book focuses on a separate brother, but keeps previous characters stories continuing... Love those!!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments I thought about mentioning Outlander. It also stands alone as a special series. There is a lot of historical focus (I happen to love Scottish history) but I didn't feel like there is much religion in it. This isn't a series yet although the second book is about to come out, but I LOVE A Discovery of Witches.

In the Fever series it develops veeeeeery sloooowly. Almost too slowly. Mostly it is snarky witty comments and some sexual tension until...well almost the end really.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree with @Mlpmom. Fever series was very slow and IMO, the first book was one of the worst books I've ever read. The writing was horrible...like no one bothered to edit the book. The story premise was good, but you have to wait a long time to get to anything good.

Night Huntress series and Kate Daniels are two good series that follow one couple and I've enjoyed.

I've been having the same problem finding another series that moves me as much as this one did and i honestly havent come accross it. It was beautifuly written i just wish the author had more series published unfortunately we'll have to wait for January2013 for the release of the winter King.

The only other couples i loved that have some similar effect as Rain and Ellie are:
Georgina and Seth (Richelle Mead's Succubus series)

Raphael&Elana (Nalini Sigh's Archangel series)

Merit&Ethan (Chicagoland Vampires)

Cat&Bones (Nighthuntress Jeane Frost)

Mac and Barons (fever series) but i took them too long to finaly be together i'd already given up

I've actually endend up buying the audio books of the entire series as well so i just listen to that instead of music at times.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments I have the audio for the first one on disk but I couldn't find the others on disk and don't have a way to play the downloaded ones in my vehicle. I listen to audiobooks all the time when I drive instead of music.

Mystique | 17 comments I tried the warprize series by Elizabeth Vaughan. It was pretty interesting and am continuing to read that now. I guess I'll give kate daniels and Night Huntress series a try. Thank you all for your suggestions and comments;)..Really appreciate it;)

message 15: by jD (new)

jD (jd_4everbooked) | 152 comments There is nothing out there like TS. The poetry and storytelling is from another time almost. It's complexity is similar to Lord of the Rings. The problem for me is finding one that has the level of romance and intrigue. I can find some that equal the complexity but not with the passionate romance.

There is one book that is dark and captivating with the romance and fantasy which you might try. This is a stand alone btw -- Master of Crows. I would put it in my top 10 fantasy/romance.

I was wondering if you know any finished series. I've read kate daniels and the night.huntress and really like them, but waiting for the next book isn't my strongest point..

Ila Try the Chronicles of the Warland series by Elizabeth Vaughn, The Son of Ereubus by J.S. Chancellor and maybe the The Nine Kingdoms by Lynn Kurland, they are all fantasy/romance series

message 20: by Deageo (last edited Jun 26, 2012 05:40AM) (new)

Deageo | 3 comments you could try JD Robb- In death series, it's the same couple throughout the series, there are at least 35 books already in the series. There is romance, character development, a good plot.....
Or you could try Lynne Connolly - Richard and Rose series, is historical romance.

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I love the In Death Series!!

message 22: by Dianne (new)

Dianne Kurucz (jadzea) | 34 comments I have yet to read the TS series but just found the first 3 books may just be my next read. One series that has stuck with me for years is Anne Bishop's. Dark jewels. It's more of a dark fantasy the first three books were great I just read the last book published last year it had been awhile for the first ones but the story about Jaenelle and Daemon made me cry if a couple can stay with you for years to me that is a great story

message 23: by Ren Puspita (new)

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) I love Tairen Soul! I never read Fantasy Romance as good as that series, but there's recommendation for good fantasy romance (not PNR/UF) :
- Sons of Destiny series by Jean Johnson
- The Elven Lords series by Kathryne Kennedy

I love both of these especially The Fire Lord's Lover

message 26: by Ren Puspita (new)

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) @jD : Actually not read The Elven Lords yet, but my friend love The Fire Lord's Lover :)

And another good fantasy romance , The Light Blade series by Kylie Griffin. Its pretty new, just 2 books so far.

Sons of Destiny is a really good series - I haven't quite finished it yet, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

message 28: by Mystique (new)

Mystique | 17 comments but in sons of destiny and the eleven lords series...they don't have the same couple throughout? ;(

Tara-is the chosen soul series really good?does it have a lot of romance? or does the romance develop slowly like the fever series?

thx again guys for your suggestions;)

message 29: by Ren Puspita (new)

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) @Mandy : Don't want to spoil it for you, but I don't like the ending of the finale book. But, still its good series

@Mydear : Yes, sadly so rare to see fantasy romance that have same couple for entire series :).

I don't read the series yet, but I hear Dark Jewel Trilogy by Anne Bishop have same couple. Its just very dark, darker than Tairen Soul

message 30: by Judy V (new)

Judy V (faefreak) | 88 comments You should try Rachel Vincent's Pride series. It follows a very strong female character from whiny young adult thru some very tough and trying times. Oh, and did I mention Marc, the hot Alpha male? loved it!

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Sive wrote: "Guild hunter..."

is guild hunter finished? I have one still marked pre-order?

message 32: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Jul 24, 2012 10:08PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Series I like that have stuck with same couple all the way thru (not at all same vein as Tairen but enjoyable reads with continuing couple):

Dhampir starting the noble dead series. The paranormal takes a few chapters and main characters in love from the get go almost like an old married couple. She is half-vampire and he outcast elf but neither immediately apparent. No romantic tension and more focus on the plot and figuring out her parentage than steamy love scenes. In one way, the backburnered love story more intense for it with moments of deeper devotion.

Dragon Prince same couple but gets soap opera-y like one of those sprawling dynastic mini-series (fantasy genre but has magic and dragons)

Poison Study intense story with steady but unsteamy romance

Resenting the Hero ignore the gawky covers; lacks angst and romance is not instant or particularly steamy (fantasy genre instead of PNR or UF). Last book of series being published directly by author.

On the lighter chicklit side of PNR with continuing couples:
Girl's Guide to Witchcraft, Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye, 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover

I haven't read the Fever series yet so I can't compare but there is romance and it's kinda slow to take off as the heroine doesn't like the hero at first.
The first 2 books are out and the next one gets released in Oct.

message 35: by Katrina (new)

Katrina (bookbarrio) I'm planning to read the Taker Trilogy by Alma Katsu, I've been hearing a lot about it so I hope it's good.

I also loved the Fever series, the romance in it is slow, but it builds up nicely. I think Anne Bishop's Black Jewels trilogy has really good character dev't, but not much on the Romance. I also liked Lynn Kurland's Nine Kingdoms, it's more on the light and cheezy side. Another fantasy romance I liked is The Golden Dynasty by Kristen Ashley..

I felt the same way!! It was such an amazing series and I hope the author continues it.

i would recommend
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...
this is the 1st in the series its YA and has the same couple and other characters all the way through, there is 6 books in the series.
the 1st is'nt as good as the rest but if you stick with it i found it was an amazing story in the end and did'nt want them to end :)

İ started reading the Tairen Soul series after your review - thank you so much! I just can't put it down - it's AWESOME!

message 41: by Tahmara (new)

Tahmara | 1 comments Can't say I've read this series yet, but I definitely will be checking it out. If it helps, Felicia Day said it's similar to the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop, so maybe read that? Looking forward to reading this series myself. Have fun!

message 42: by Amber (new)

Amber | 83 comments I'd say the series I've read that comes closest to it is the Sons of Destiny series by Jean Johnson. It's got a fantastically built world with politics, history, and a really varied group of heroes and heroines. I find in many series about different couples, they all start to blend together, because they have similar POVs, mannerisms, and ways of speaking.

message 43: by Esther (new)

Esther | 21 comments I loved the Tairen Soul series also! A series I would rank along with it is the Elemental Mysteries by Elizabeth Hunter. A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries #1) by Elizabeth Hunter It is a 4 book series that follows one couple. The author has now released a 5th book in the same world, focused on one of the secondary characters.

Leila | 8 comments I've read the 4 first books of the TL Series an I'm about to start reading Book 5. And honestly... I'm truly dreading the moment I will finish these Series, because it will feel like I'm saying goodbye to many fictional characters I became to love dearly, almost like family. I never experienced that before, nothing like this.
I recommend it to everyone who has the slightest admiration for the Lord of the Rings, and I am even secretly hoping some film producer will turn C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul novels into a movie. :)I never want to leave this magical world of Eloran! I'll reread it til I'm a eighty-year old little lady, probably! :))
I hope Misses Wilson keeps writing, she's a legend amongst bestselling authors. Every scene in these books is written with a purpose, and with such care, devotion and love, you almost feel she has written it purely for herself as if because the story she wanted to read, was not written yet. I enjoyed every sentence, every page, and every chapter so far. Now Book 5 is waiting to be read by me, and I'll cherish every moment of it. :)

message 45: by Karin Elisabeth (new)

Karin Elisabeth (goodreadscomkarinelisabeth) | 34 comments I truly enjoyed Tairen Soul and I am still waiting for the Winter King (the spelling is wrong, sorry about that!).
But what I found this weekend is Written in Red (The Others #1) by Anne Bishop .
I loved Anne Bishop's "Black Jewels Trilogy" and I also fell in love with this book. I highly recommend it - hopefully it's going to be a series!
Although, mind you: "Written in Red" is something completely different from the elves in Tairen Soul.

Absolutly a beautiful story! No sex but I didn't even miss it. It takes quite a bit to bring me to tears but this one did it more than once. I listened to the first two on audio and read the 3rd one. The love story had the partnership and commitment that is reflected in TS.

The Tairen Soul series is a tough one to beat (if you insist on reading fantasy), but I second The Chronicles of the Warlands series by Elizabeth Vaughan. It has great world building, good character development and a very interesting story plot.

message 48: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 5 comments There are a lot of really good recomendations in here. i especially loved the Cat and Bones series and have also read two of the spin offs. this is a romance filled with action and passion and just had me falling in love with the hard core sarcastic characters. If you plan to read the spin off novel about Spade a heads up, the plot mixes with the plot of Cat and Bones and may have you confused if you do not read them in a certain order.

The fever series was a great fantasy mix and if you are looking for a book that will have you arguing with the characters this is one of them. yes it takes the characters a long time to get together but the suspense kept me on my toes. The fever series also tends to end in cliff hangers that had me on edge wanting to know what happened or would happen next.
i also loved how the author slipped twists within the story that had me thinking holy crap what just happened and how did i not see that. Definately one of my favorite reads.

My cousin introduced me to a new series that i have fallen in love with and can not wait for the fifth book to come out. the Charlie Davidson series by Darynda Jones. the author won 12 awards on the first book alone. the main character is the all to sassy and fun loving One and only Grim reaper. there is steamy forbiden love an amazing friendship and lots of danger. this book had me lauging by the third page. If you enjoy a good laugh this is the book to read. this book is more of an urban romance as well as the Cat and Bones Series.
