Thanks for the kind words and advice. I'll set up a thread in authors corner too. I would welcome the opportunity to get a free copy of Summer of the Woods to any member of the group that would be interested in reading and writing an honest review. Let me know if anyone is interested! Thanks

Daniel Berenson (danielberenson) | 6 comments Hello to all lovers of middle grade lit, an often neglected category: I write for that age group and LOVE THUG, my latest book, is A ROMANTIC COMEDY FOR MIDDLE GRADERS, PARTICULARLY BOYS. Yes, you read that right. Rather unique. It's the book kids need after they've outgrown the Wimpy Kid books.

Read about LOVE THUG at Amazon, preview it, check the reviews. Find out more at www.facebook.com/freakydudebooks

I'm not great at this social networking thing, but have developed some wonderful relationships through my search for reviewers for our genre. I'd love to meet many of you and will work to do so. GLTA and feel free to contact me at Facebook or at www.freakydudebooks.com. While you're there, be sure to say "hey" to Dr. Crankenfuss.

You might find more visibility for you book in our Author's Corner, the spot designated for authors who want to promote their own books. Make sure to put your title in the subject line : )

It's a great place to talk to other MG writers and readers and get support and help from everyone.

message 564: by Jane (new)

Jane | 12 comments Hello GMGR! I'm the mother of a new Middle Grade writer, Caroline Carlson, who has been lucky enough to land a wonderful 3-book deal with HarperCollins. The series is called The Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates, and the first book, Magic Marks the Spot, was a BEA Middle Grade Buzz book this past May. There's a 20 book (advance reading copy) giveaway by HarperCollins and a lot more information about the book on Magic Marks the Spot's Goodreads page. Needless to say, I'm a huge fan of middle grade books and look forward to following this site.

Cordelia Dinsmore (cordeliadinsmore) | 105 comments Hi, Brooklyn! Sounds like you are an avid reader of maybe a little bit older tween lit. There are a lot of good book recommendations here, for sure. I review quite a few MG books, so you can always check them out. I read so much it's hard to remember. Just finished In a Glass Grimmly, Jefferson's Sons (a great historical fiction), and Summer of the Gypsy Moths. Those sort of stand out because they were recent.

I'm part of a new group that just form called Emblazoners. If you check out our blog, you might find something there that interests you. We are devoted to the tween audience.

message 594: by H.Y. (new)

H.Y. Hanna (hyhanna) Hi S.W. and other MG readers - I'm new and just found this group (via the lovely Julie Grasso!) I'm sort of a fellow Aussie - not born here but emigrated out Down Under from the UK about 10yrs ago, lived in NZ for a while and now in Australia (Perth).

I'm one of those people who never outgrew my love of MG books and still have many of my childhood favourites taking pride of place on my bookshelf, and which I pick up from time to time! :-)

I'm also an "about-to-be" indie MG author - I'm launching my 1st ebook in Sep: a canine mystery for "tween"/upper MG readers, plus teens & adult dog lovers ('Curse of the Scarab - A Big Honey Dog Mystery' by H.Y. Hanna) - so I hope to be able to share the exciting journey with you all! :-)

Looking forward to getting to know everybody -

best wishes,
Hsin-Yi
(& Slobbers from Honey, my Great Dane, who is the inspiration for my book, though her popular blog at: www.bighoneydog.com )

message 597: by H.Y. (new)

H.Y. Hanna (hyhanna) I just wanted to mention that I've also posted in the "MG Authors" section - not sure if anyone has seen it - a new thread asking for help with choosing the covers for my MG mystery series? I'd love to have your opinions on which would be a better cover if you have a moment free! :-)

(I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to the cover designs here - but I've put them in a post in the MG Authors section, called "Help choose a cover for a MG mystery series" Thank you! )

Hsin-Yi
