Creating Suspense and Character

I'm reading a fascinating discussion about creating suspense to engage readers on LinkEds and Writers Group on linkedin which led to the book, Writing for Story by Jon Franklin and then author Ian Irvine's web site and comments about creating suspense and character. I can never get enough of this info, especially when I find that I've created a character I love (this time in a screenplay) that several readers disdain.
