Authors, do you have book previews? Want some feed back for upcoming books? Just post the link to your preview here and tell us a little about your book.

I have a preview for my up-coming novel right now called "On a Foreign Field" set during the Scottish Wars for Independence about an English knight who gets captured at the Battle of Stirling by Wallace's army. You can view the preview here:

Feedback is much appreciated =)

K.L. Coones | 24 comments Absolom Rex is a crossover historical fiction/horror featuring Pontius Pilate. There was a reason nothing is said about him after his exile to Gaul...

The next book in this series is a collection of short stories. If you find Absolom Rex interesting, I can post some of the shorts for some feedback. Some of them are being stubborn buggers.

I think it was a good choice to tell only a personal account of the battle (from Reeve's point of view), even though it is an isolated account, I still got a sense of the full chaos of the battle and that he is part of a much larger event.

One thing you might try, and see how it work for this section, is to break up the sentences some into shorter snippets. Shorter sentences can pick up the pace of the action, bam bam bam, as you read them off in quick succession. See if you like it.

Thanks K.L. Funny enough, I do write in short snippets a lot but sometimes I feel it stunts it. I've only edited the book once so far though. First time through I do it for grammar, next time it's for content.

Bob Larranaga | 11 comments I'm new to this group. I have published a number of books in the past but, for the first time, I'm self-publishing a novel, call The Reckoning (due out on or about Nov. 1) As the great grandson of a Florida lighthouse keeper and a Civil War soldier, I chose to write about blockade running during the war.

Here is a link to a preview of chapter one. http://www.goodreads.com/story/list/7...

David Krae (davidkrae) Here's the link to my new historical fiction Lucretia by David Krae about Lucretia Borgia, which can be found here (depending on your preference):

http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...
http://www.amazon.com/Lucretia-ebook/...
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/lucre...

It's apparently on iBooks as well but I don't have an iPad so I don't know how it works, but I would imagine it includes a sample like the others.

Cheers!

Got a new short story out that's a backstory to go along with the novel I'm working on To Save a Life (By Blood and By Bond 0.1) by Hazel B. West If you like things set in ancient Rome take a look!

It's on both Smashwords http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/...

and Amazon Kindle http://www.amazon.com/To-Save-a-Life-...

It's currently only in ebook but when I write the other two backstories I'm planning, I'm going to publish them in a paperback together.

C.P. Lesley (cplesley) | 339 comments My new novel, The Golden Lynx, is now available for print through Amazon.com and Kindle, nook, and iTunes/iBookstore. Technically, not for Kobo, but any ePub person can download from Barnes and Noble, find the file on their Mac/PC, and drag it onto a Kobo or Sony reader.

I just put the preview for my WIP "By Blood or By Bond" a historical drama set during the Roman era up on Createspeace here: https://www.createspace.com/Preview/1...

If I could get some people to read it and answer the questions so I know what you think and if I might need to work on anything, I would be really glad of that =)

Hi Bob,

Very interesting ancestor - seems like a great place to find the seeds of a story. I'm dreaming up a sequel that has a bit to do with what happened to blockade runners after the war. I'd be interested in your research and background material. All of my runners worked the Gulf so I don't think we would trip over each other.

All: when I get more into the mss I'll post a preview here.
