Sonia Jarmula I am a huge fan of the great Tolkien and have found several gorgeous editions of the Lord of the Rings, but cannot seem to find one that I really like for The Hobbit. Does anyone have any edition that they especially like, any particular cover art or design that gives the book the majesty it deserves?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I have this is a hard paperback kind of cover. The front cover folds back. It is my favorite : )

Oh, it would be really nice if you could give some details about the formatting too. :) English books tend to have a tiny font size and fonts that are a bit hard on the eyes (compared to books in my native language, I might add - I don't like reading translations anymore but getting myself editions with a good readable formatting is really hard). I have yet to get myself 'The Hobbit' so ... yeah. I'd appreciate information about anything that concerns the formatting. :')

Cecile I really like the cover art of this edition I have :
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Smaug seems to be really comfy on his golden hoard.

Chris Alan Lee, who was one of the concept artists for the LOTR films, got the job because of illustrations he'd already done for Tolkien editions, including The Hobbit. I don't have the book (just the JRRT-illustrated edition) but Lee's version is very atmospheric.

Oh, it ..."

I know what you mean, I am the same way about spacing. This one is actually larger than the average-sized paperbacks. I have never read from it, but I glanced at the text and it seems it would be a comfortable read -- larger font and perfectly spaced.

Sonia Jarmula Thank you all very much for your help! I think I might either go with Cecile's edition, or this one, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/83...

or this one, which I quite like: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59...
