Hay everyone, so excited to get started. I'm a Newbie to shelf Bingo so you'll have to bare will me. I'm pretty sure I understand everything though. What do you all think of the team name Reading Robins? Looking forward to hearing others suggestions for team names x

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 953 comments Hello! I'm excited to get started too! I haven't picked out books for each shelf yet, I'm just going to pick something as the shelves are called. Can we go ahead and start reading our free space book or do we have to wait until the 17th? I have no idea what to name our team...it's 8:30am here so I'm still working on my coffee. I'll have to ponder it today...

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments So some Team Name ideas that I had while trying to slack off at work:

Series Sirens
Reading Rebels
Bingo Bettys
The Lovely Ladies of Reading
Reading Addicts

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I like Series Sirens

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

I've been browsing the shelves to get an ideas of what I would like to read and I have just added LOADS of books to my TBR pile, and we haven't even started Bingo yet LOL

I'm doing the same thing. Ny TBR pile is already a Mt. Everest size mountain, but I love adding more books to it. I probably will never, ever run out of books to read and most of that is thanks to Goodreads and this group in particular.

message 21: by Sarah (last edited Jun 15, 2012 12:34PM) (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1088 comments Hi ladies!! I'm really excited to be on a team with all of you!!

As far as Team names go I really don't mind.

I was thinking of incorporating our team number in it:

Double the Dames, Double the Trouble
Cover Two Cover

I also like Series Sirens which was suggested already.

:)

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm thinking that either Cover Two Cover or Series Sirens would be good Team Names. What does everyone else thing, and any takers for Team Captain??

message 23: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Either of those two names works for me.

I am more than willing to volunteer for Team Captain if no one else is interested in doing it. I'm a newbie at this, but I'm pretty much on Goodreads every day.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

So we can use our team number, shall we go for Cover two Cover then? And I am more than happy to give my vote if you want to give Team Leader ago Paris? What does everyone one else think?????

message 25: by Deidre (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments So how did you find out your team? As a newbie, I have been searching all over, and just stumbled across this, thankfully team 2, so I know where I belong.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

I looked through all 18 team threads this morning, starting at 18 LOL and worked my way back until I got to 2 and found my name. How many of us are Newbies then?? Deidre, Paris and Myself?

message 27: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Deidre wrote: "So how did you find out your team? As a newbie, I have been searching all over, and just stumbled across this, thankfully team 2, so I know where I belong."

Deidre, this morning I just kept clicking on teams until I saw my name. Not sure if there was an easier way to do it though. I was half asleep when I did it and our team was half way down the page already.

Glad you found us!

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1088 comments I've played before. It's a lot of fun! I'm so excited for all of you to have a chance to play.

I'm good with Paris to be Team Captain, if she's comfortable with that. Otherwise, I'll volunteer since I've played before.

I like Series Siren or Cover Two Cover. We can vote between those two, if those are the top two picks.

message 29: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I'm totally cool with being Team Captain, but I totally understand if ya'll would be more comfortable having someone more experienced handle the gig.

As far as team names, I'm sorta partial to Series Sirens, but I like Cover Two Cover and I like that it has our team number in it so I vote for Cover Two Cover.

message 30: by Deidre (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments What does a team captain do? I guess I'd want to know that before a decision is made.

I kind of like Cover Two Cover also.

message 31: by Deidre (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments Or even Cover 2 Cover...

message 32: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments The Team Captain is basically the go to person between Steph and the team. So if we have questions, concerns and when we need our Bingo card stamped, the team captain would be the one to contact Steph.

I like Cover 2 Cover too. Either spelling is cool with me.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Cover 2 Cover good with me

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Are we all agreed on Captain Paris??? I'm trying to decide on my Free read, hoping to get it done this week with the first shelf read, I think the sooner we all do the free read, the sooner we get our stamp:0) My list is nearly complete, how is everyone else doing with theirs? Are you doing a list, or just going random when the shelves are called??

message 35: by Sarah (last edited Jun 16, 2012 09:25AM) (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1088 comments I good with Captain Paris.

I haven't looked at the Free Space reads yet, but I will today. I agree, the sooner we get the free space done the better. I don't come up with a list. I have a list of books I plan on reading each month. Once the shelf is called I will look at what I have to read for the month and see if any of those are on the shelf, if they are not then I pick something else.

ETA: for the Free Space I will probably be reading Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur

Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur

message 36: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I've been working on a list based on the books I already have on hand and what's on the shelves just to have a little preparedness only cause I'm super anal like that. Half the time I'll probably pick something else lol. I'm ready to go with my Free Space read and I agree that we should get that out of the way as soon as we can.

Mine's gonna be Shadow's Fall by Dianne Sylvan. I'm really glad I decided not to read that so I could finish The Golden Lily before tonight's book signing.

As far as team captain and team name goes, I'll be at a wedding reception and then the book signing for the majority of the day. But I'll check in here when I get back and if Suzanne and Deidre are good with both then I'll let Steph know.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

For my free read I'm going to go with Kiss of Fire (Dragonfire, #1) by Deborah Cooke I've been given this in paperback from a friend and I only have this one in the series, but if I like it, then I will get the others on Ebook when funds allow it. I prefer to read on my ereader now, and i thought I would always love my paperbacks.

message 38: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1088 comments The first shelf has been called! It's young-adult-paranormal. If you need the link you can go check out the Shelf Announcements thread, I am going to be reading Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Hourglass (Hourglass, #1) by Myra McEntire

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Right, I'm off to bed now ( it's 11:30pm here in the UK) but before I go i thought i would let you know what I will be reading for the first called shelf YA. Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate which my daughter has in paper back and will be thrilled I will finally be reading it, followed by Kiss of Fire (Dragonfire, #1) by Deborah Cooke as my free read. I should get both of these done before the next shelf is called :0) Night all, see you all tomorrow/later depending on where in the world you are.

message 40: by Deidre (last edited Jun 16, 2012 06:41PM) (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments I am going to read the calling - Kelley Armstrong. The Calling

message 41: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments So excited to get started. I'm gonna read Dark Frost (Mythos Academy, #3) by Jennifer Estep and then Shadow's Fall (Shadow World, #3) by Dianne Sylvan for my free space. Happy reading ladies!!

message 42: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 953 comments I'm good with Cover two Cover and with Paris being captain!

message 43: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 953 comments I'm going to do Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate for our first shelf! Still not sure what to do for my free space though so I'll keep thinking about that one.

message 44: by Deidre (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments So I finished my book The Calling for the first shelf. Now what exactly do I do?

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1217 comments Deidre wrote: "So I finished my book The Calling for the first shelf. Now what exactly do I do?"

Give it a rating (1-5 stars)
Review it - it doesn't have to be anything long or insanely in depth. ;-). Something more than "I like it" or "It was ok.". Tell us what you liked/didn't like about the book, anything that really stood out for you (things like that). If it's part of series, you could also mention if you'll continue with it, etc.

I hope that helps! :D

Happy reading! And good luck!

Yep. ;-) Right here.

(Your captain will eventually link it in her tracking post so the mods can efficiently confirm all have completed the shelf).

message 48: by Deidre (last edited Jun 17, 2012 04:29PM) (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments The Calling (Darkness Rising, #2) by Kelley Armstrong

This is book 2 in the YA series the Gathering by Kelley Armstrong. Book two shows that it exists in the same world as the Cabal from her main series. I like this series much much better that the other YA she did. So I would give this ***1/2.

Read Jun 17 2012

One irritation: this series is set in Canada, but the proof readers didn't bother to look up what the word for a two dollar coin is. So they called it a "toonie."
I guess that means it has a picture of a toon on it, as opposed the the real world, where there is a loon on it.

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow Deidre, that was quick :0)

YAY Suzanne, we are both reading the same book :0) I'm half way through, thought it was slow going to start, but it's pick up. How are you finding it so far??

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1217 comments Ana~Willow wrote: "Wow Deidre, that was quick :0)"

I think she's the first person in the game to post a review. :D

Off to an excellent start!
