Good morning, all, and greetings to all our new members :)

I'm more than a little pleased to note Mr. Duncan Long has now joined our group, both as author, and hopefully, an artist. Anyone not being familiar with Mr. Long has only to Google his name. Please take a moment to greet him...

Glenda Reynolds (glendareynolds) Welcome, Duncan! I love your art. May I ask what program you primarily use when you do your computer graphics? My hubby is big into 3D graphics, more of an admirer than a creator. And do you have set prices for book covers?

Duncan | 6 comments Thanks for the kind words. I go into great detail about how I create my artwork (which is all digital) on my blog. Here's a good place to start:

Prices depend greatly on how many rights you want (generally I recommend to authors to only purchase the book cover rights) and how complex the cover elements will be. A "cast of thousands" cover illustration will cost a lot more than say a portrait of a single character from a book with a simple background. That said, my prices typically run from $900 - $1,500 for a book cover illustration.

I'm always happy to give a free estimate if someone sends me a "word picture" of what they want for a book or magazine cover illustration.

Elizabeth (crimsonflowerreviews) I read about a contest going on. I didn't know if it applies to anyone in this group but it's for Mythic Dragon Publishing. Here is a link to the Goodreads Event with the Info.
