Ron Beever "incontournable"- once over the first pages, I found it impossible to put down. Fascinating to set this into my (incomplete) understanding of seventeenth century France. Jean Teule writes with such zest. I want now to rediscover Louis XIV and his court, and especially the mistresses before and after Athenais.

Kimber I loved this book as well and am hoping Jean Teule will write many more.
