How Long Should A Series Go For?

Should a series go for three books to make it a trilogy or four to make it a quartet? What are your thoughts? Do you prefer giant series or small ones?

Trilogies are okay. When you start talking six or seven it's like -_-

for me, it depends on the author. Some books I read and, whether I liked it or not, I don't want a sequel, but one of my favorite series has 6. But trilogies are a good inbetween

I'm kinda with you on Graveling... I loved all the characters, but I think she switched too fast. And once Riordan got to the Heroes of Olympus series, he started switching around. But I'm not so big on it in a single book... One at a time, please

All these Rick riordan books are being fairly dragged out for years and years. Leave the poor characters alone!
