Which gender do you prefer to be the protaganist of a book?

In an action book I prefer males, I connect with them more (yes I am a girl) I love reading from guys POV (weird, yes)

In a romance book (or a mostly romance book with some action like Divergent) I prefer females because boy romance is awkward for a girl to read...especially when it gets....detailed.

I don't like females if they're all whiny, but I love them when they are kick-butt like Katniss or Tris then it's super awesome to read them.

Cool, a mixed view. I think that girls are also good too read about like Katniss in Hunger Games and Katsa in Graceling. But boys are still better for me because I can connect better.

That makes sense because you're a guy, but yeah Katniss and Katsa are very cool! But I like males like Percy Jackson!

Yeah

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

It doesn't really matter much to me.

Kal G | 364 comments Mod
Really?

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

As long as I can relate to the protagonist, it really doesn't matter to me if they are male or female.

I think if the author is good then wither gender will be great

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Exactly.

But it's easier to relate to a male character if your male and vice versa if your a female.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah.

message 36: by Holly (new)

Holly | 219 comments I try, but.... Some things just aren't meant to be

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL

message 38: by Holly (new)

Holly | 219 comments And besides, we're talking about feminine main characters, not female. Read:girly. I don't do girly.

message 39: by Kal G (new)

Kal G | 364 comments Mod
Okay

message 40: by Holly (new)

Holly | 219 comments Yup.

message 41: by Kal G (new)

Kal G | 364 comments Mod
So you don't like girly girls?

message 42: by Holly (new)

Holly | 219 comments Not even a little.

If the main character is a model, cheerleader, dying from cancer, or pining after the head of the football team, I refuse to read it on principle.

Well, except the Fault in our Stars. That book was awesome

message 43: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 4 comments I feel like a book is so different if told by a female protagonist as compared to male. I personally like male better but in some books, they tend to show less emotion to certain events. But then again, some females rhapsodize a lot and are indecisive.
If only there was a happy medium..

message 44: by kayla (new)

kayla (kaylacaylen) If it is drama or romance then a female protagonist.
If its not and it's like killing, action then I prefer Masculine Protagonist

message 45: by Holly (new)

Holly | 219 comments Yeah girls spend way too much time on feelings, guys don't spend enough

message 46: by Kal G (new)

Kal G | 364 comments Mod
Lol

message 47: by £mily (new)

£mily (3mily991) I don't really mind, it really depends on the book and how well the author has written the character.

message 48: by Chade (new)

Chade I like woman protagonists since I'm a girly girl but I hate chick flick books. I do like adventure and mystery books. I can read a book with a male protagonist but it is just that I don't connect with them a well as I do with a woman protagonist.

I don't like talking about feelings so I'll take the guy character any day :p
