Jesse Perhaps I should post a picture of myself with my long hair and beard, just for the contrast.
Yow!

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments The 35th annual People's Choice Awards will take place tonight, Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. It will air on CBS-TV.

The nominees were announced on November 10. They are determined by a panel of over 6,000 entertainment enthusiasts recruited by "Entertainment Weekly" editors. The panel votes on the various categories. Then people vote via the Internet for the winners.

Becky (beckymurr) I plan on watching some of it & then DVRing the rest because I watch Top Chef on Wednesday nights. I like to watch some awards shows & I love seeing who is wearing what, etc but the People's Choice Awards aren't my favorite.....

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I look forward to hearing the acceptance speeches. Every once in a while there's a memorable one. And yes, I check out the gowns or whatever they're wearing. The show is light and celebratory... a little bit of excitement for me after reluctantly coming down from the holiday high.

Besides, I hardly ever follow the current movies or TV. So this gives me a taste of what's going on in that part of the entertainment world.

Becky (beckymurr) Yes Joy it is a much more relaxed atmosphere....& yes, enjoyable after the holidays!! Your home must be quiet...

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Yes, Becky, it's very quiet. Just Eddie, the dog, and I. I don't mind. I have the whole world at my fingertips.

Becky (beckymurr) I had it on for a little bit Joy-how was it? Now I remember what it was I don't like-if you see the person in the audience, you know they are the winner of an award LOL.....

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I watched the show. What a lot of noisy cheering there was from the audience!

The movie, "The Secret Life of Bees", won 2 awards:
Favorite Movie Drama and Favorite Independent Movie
You can pick'em, Becky. You called it, I think.

Read article at Daily News: ====>

The article calls Queen Latifah an "overly enthusiastic host" and I agree. She was a bit forced in her enthusiasm. I blame it on the show's writers. They put those words in her mouth and designed the show. She's a majestic personality, nevertheless, IMO.

See some great photos at: ====>

I always enjoy Ellen DeGeneres. I enjoyed seeing her last night.

The music never appeals to me. I'm accustomed to songs with great melodies. The current music lacks melody, IMO. Just a lot of wailing, howling, and carrying on.

What struck me most was the youth and energy of all the celebrities, especially the young gals with their slim figures, beautifully designed dresses, and lovely hairdos.

Oh to be young again.
