Tara Chevrestt My first f/f erotica was just released last week. I'm terribly excited about it, but at my wit's end as to where I should go to promo it/share it/ talk about it. The blog thing is getting old, I fear. Any of you fellow f/f writers have some advice? Or any you f/f readers have blogs that would be interested in reviewing it? The Submission by D.F. Krieger

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments Twitter is a good way to start... and have something free on offer (a short story relating to your book e.g.)

message 3: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt I did the freebie thing, Harper. That backfired. LOL. I loathe twitter. I'm looking for blogs. I found a few on Google and emailed them and they didn't reply. And many, I'm sorry to say, haven't posted anything since July of last year. Do you know of any lesbian book blogs?

message 4: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments The Lesbrary and Rainbow Reader are the first that come to mind. Not sure if they review erotica though, so best check the submission guidelines. Also check their 'blog rolls' for other review sites...
Good luck!

message 5: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt That's exactly where I went! And Most of the blogs on their blog roll... Not active since last year. :( Will look again. I couldn't find any review guidelines for the Lesbrary itself.

message 6: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments It's not easy, I know. Just starting out myself and facing the same questions as you are...

message 7: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt What, if you don't mind me asking, is your book?

message 8: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments Of course I don't mind. I've only got one out at the moment (working hard on more). It's called Hired Help and here's the GR link:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15...

Oh, and it's quite steamy. ;-)

I'm brand new to GR so only just got my author profile up. It should be working now.

I'm fully engrossed in your blog at the moment.

Oh, and it..."

Where can you buy your book?

message 10: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt I love the cover. What are you finding works for you as far as getting word out there?

Jenny, I just did an Amazon search and I found Harper's book http://www.amazon.com/Hired-Help-eboo...

message 11: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 14 comments Ok. I only looked at barnes and noble because I have a nook.

message 12: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments Thanks Tara,

Currently immersing myself in some yahoo lesfic and erotica groups. I'll let you know how that turns out. I know you hate twitter, but I am using that as well. Not for selling so much but possibly to find reviewers because I do agree with you that reviews are important. I'm currently also working on some stories that I intend to give away fro free...

Jenny, because I don't live in the US I can't directly upload to B&N so I have to wait until Smashwords distributes it everywhere. My guess is that it will take a few weeks until it's available on B&N. Meanwhile SW (https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...) and the LadyLit webshop (http://www.ladylit.com/shop/) sell all the available formats.

message 13: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt It takes about a month. :(

message 14: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments Yes, I know that when it comes to SW, patience is key... then again, patience is important in self-publishing in general ;-)

message 15: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt I find smashwords very easy to use though. As a buyer.

message 16: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments True, no added costs either (which, if you don't live in the US or any other Amazon store countries is a big plus) and they have all the different files. It's not very pretty, but it works. As a publisher, it takes forever to get into the premium distribution though (forever meaning at least 2 to 3 weeks).

grumpybybirth | 13 comments Its not alot of help but get people to like the book on amazon and its more likely to pop up on the if you like this then you will like that spot. It will help get your book promoted.

Thanks I will check it out.

message 19: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt May I also suggest AllRomanceEbooks?

message 20: by Katey (new)

Katey Hawthorne (kateyhawthorne) | 4 comments I haven't had to do this with f/f yet (but I will very, very soon), but I've found that pages like trs and trr and mr are really good about providing a space for lgbtq erotic romance titles. I see both f/f and m/m advertised and discussed a lot -- and there are blogging opportunities and free promo ops. (A little more if you pay the minimal fees at trs.) Of course nothing's guaranteed, but it does get the title out there a little more.

Looooove the book cover, Tara. Just went on my to-buy next list.

message 21: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt Thank you, Katey. :)

message 22: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 14 comments Those two women were on a different bookcover. The name of that was Public Display I think. That was a nice looking cover also

message 23: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt Darn. So much for being unique. :( they have a series of photos tho, these women. All hot!

grumpybybirth | 13 comments just a thought, Goodreads does the giveaways for books. I have never seen a f/f book included but I would think that would be a great way to get lots of people to read about and get interested in reading the stories.

message 25: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt I think it has be paperback. I'm not certain how to do an ebook. I will look into it.

message 26: by Kate (new)

Kate Ryan (kryan12120) | 3 comments Hi I just started an ebook Lesbian erotica series called Boi Tales. It's great fun, please check it out if you can. Thanks!

It's available today on amazon and B&N

message 27: by Harper (new)

Harper Bliss (harperbliss) | 29 comments Hey Grumpy and Tara,

indeed, you can only do giveaways for paperbacks, not for e-books. So it may be worth producing one if you have a longer book or anthology out... I may put one out in a few months.

Kate,
will check out your Boi Tales...

message 28: by Kate (new)

Kate Ryan (kryan12120) | 3 comments Thanks!! So much!

grumpybybirth | 13 comments HHMMM ok, sorry I thought I had seen an ebook on there a couple of days ago that you can win.

How about using http://www.librarything.com/ and doing it there. I used to win books from them all the time, they do ebooks I know for sure.

message 30: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt LT is worthless. I gave away five books on there a year ago and not one wrote a review.

message 31: by Tara (new)

Tara Chevrestt And now, they won't accept my covers for some reason.

grumpybybirth | 13 comments well thats just sucks. damn both my ideas were busts :-{

message 33: by Ily (new)

Ily Goyanes (realily) | 6 comments Hi ladies,

I was wondering if this would be the right thread to mention my latest release, Girls Who Score: Hot Lesbian Erotica? I've done giveaways on GR before (Best Lesbian Erotica 2012) and will be doing one for Girls Who Score next month. If you're interested in quality well-written erotica, check it out: http://www.amazon.com/Girls-Who-Score...

Be Easy,

Ily

message 34: by M (new)

M | 5 comments Gulp - this is not going to help me get over my Hope Solo addition is it...

Looks fantastic but I am confused as to why (on amazon.co.uk) the price for the paperback is less than the price of the ebook?

Has the market shifted so much that you have to discount to shift the paper?

Sign me up for a giveaway!

Mags

message 35: by Ily (new)

Ily Goyanes (realily) | 6 comments Ah... Hope Solo. No, the book will not help you with that addiction at all.

I'm not sure about the disparity between the prices. That's weird! I just emailed my publisher about it, so I'll let you know.

I'll be posting the giveaway next month. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. ;)
